Why did Sonic do better in the "West" compared to Japan?
>>
>>219312684
Because he was designed from the start to appeal to the west
>>
because sega did rather poorly in japan as well, despite being a jap company. they were known for arcades but nintendo had a de facto monopoly on home consoles

modern day nintendo cultists are worse than commies and disney adults
>>
>>219312820
I don't get them, nintendo is quite an evil company all things considered
maybe not konami-evil, but still

so was Mario

In Japan, autism is the normal state of things. To them Sonic isn't novel. It would be like trying to sell coke as an exciting new thing in America or Mexico, it's consumed every day so it isn't interesting.

Japanese people tend to judge and prefer characters based on their overall appeal, whereas Americans choose based on appearance.

Why did you make Mario look like Stalin if you're trying to appeal to the west? He's just a hardworking plumber challenging imperialists like Bowser. At least do the part where the Trotsky Bowser gets his head caved in by an icepick.
