Can the west ever compete with such light bulb technology?
>>219315762>Can the west ever compete with such light bulb technology? No, zoning laws has absolutely cucked us from cybercities ever becoming a reality, let alone most of Europe. Best case scenario is America establishing an special economic zone somewhere in the Texas Triangle. Also cope, if we wanted to be a country in denial, then we would've just copied EU domestic and foreign policy verbatim
>>219315762I've seen videos from street level of this place and it's always got hundreds of people outside it taking videos and pictures. Just imagine having to deal with a whole city of that shit every night.
>>219317268Chinese cities is packed by design, where everyone conjugate in a few places in a city of millions. I remember there's a paper saying how chinese cities have the lowest density of roads compared to other countries. Even though chinese cities have a lower population density than even some of the american suburbs, but since everyone in the 5 mile radius have to use the same road and the same shop, it gives an illusion of density instead. It is also kinda funny how few years ago during the height of their real estate market, every chinese city operated on if they have a scarcity of land, and they rationalized it on their large population size. Now their real estate market is crashing down. they no longer have a scarcity of land and have to worry that the population is not big enough to keep the real estate market from collapsing instead.
>>219317555Hive people philosophy. 99% of the population lives in the same 1% of area. I saw this when I lived in China. Shanghai has parts of its city that looks like deep American countryside. Shanghai city is around the same size as LA but 10X more population
>>219317608>Hive people philosophyI feel like it was part of the design. Since it only been this way after their real estate market boom. Which almost forced everyone into a large city since that's where they can make most of their return on investment from real estate. So at the same time small towns and villages are pretty much empty now. I remember reading the chinese government even tried to aid this by denying all construction permit to villages and small towns, which in turn forced people to move to a city center. >10x the populationif you compare LA by the greater los angeles region then it is about half the size of shanghai's municipal borders. (1646 sq mi vs 2448). Greater LA has a population around 13mil, shanghai has a municipal population of 25mil.By density greater LA and shanghai is not that far off, LA 7500/sq mi, Shanghai 10000/sq mi. And LA is mostly single family homes while shanghai is high rise apartments
>>219317818This is retarded because it will further decrease their birth rate
>>219318862It feels like I'm in an alternative universe from just barely over a decade ago. How am I reading about Chinese birth rates declining being an issue when people used to talk about them as if they were going flood the world like they do Indians today?
>>219315762that's an eyesore and I hate everything it represents
>>219318953it is an issue when they don't have the population to support the real estate market, especially when it is 30% of their GDP. Nothing really changed in the last 10 years, other than the fact that when the price is high there's never enough to go around, now the price is low nobody wants it anymore. The Chinese real estate market always operated on the rationale that they have a large population so the real estate market will go on forever. That was never the case, its just their local government kept the market afloat by emptying the countryside or mass-demolishing the old cities. Just so there would be enough new buyers to keep the line go up. Xi stopped it a few years ago with his three red lines. So all the old problems that was ignored when the economy was good is just resurfacing. Of course what all these highly urbanized living may do to the population socially or psychologically is another question
