Why do white people always ask "Where are you from?" first when they meet non-white people? Why is someone's birthplace so important to them?
>>
Where are you from?
>>
>>219316624
So we know whats your pedigree and your place on the racial scale
>>
It isn't important. I can see your flag right now and I still don't give a shit.
>>
>>219316624
Sounds like something old people ask when they try to start a conversation.

It's a logical question when talking to exotic strangers. Aren't you curious?

>oh my GOD these foreigners all think we're chinese, they have zero interest in my culture!
>oh my GOD this foreigner just asked me where im from, how insensitive!
>>
>>219316624
if it makes you feel better we also ask each other that
>>
>>219316624
Because we want non-Whites to always feel uncomfortable and unwelcome even if they are actually citizens born here.
Example:
>Where are you from?
>America.
>No I mean where are you from?
>Oh I am Vietnamese.
Non-Whites can't stand when we do that because they know they will never be accepted.

I suppose in the anglosphere it's a bit different because it implies non native status, so can be considered offensive. Otherwise I don't see why leash one's curiosity at all.
When I speak English I can always be sure I'm talking to a foreigner so this problem doesn't exist, and in native language there's subtler ways to tell

It's basically like another version of those shallow "hi how are you" meandering greetings you have to do in formal settings. You have to waste your time doing it, but if you actually do want to tell people how you are doing or how your day was genuinely it's like:
>eww no I didn't mean it lol.
or
>wow he's taking it seriously?
>>
I am from Aztlán.
>>
>>219316624
I like it
Let me tell you about my country
>>
>>219316624
You can take it both as offensive and considerate
Offensive : they are implying you are not local based just on looks alone
Considerate : they want to know if there are special religious/ethnic considerations when talking to you like Muslims and pork
>>
>>219316624
Isn't it interesting?

Sometimes I imagine going to another country and people asking where I’m from, I’d say I’m Brazilian then start doing freestyle with a ball and talking about Brazilian music and food. I think they’d be really interested
>>
>>219316624
I ask everyone that.
>>
>>219316624
Funny that nowadays most non whites simply answer "I'm European/American"
>>
>>219316763
Cultures differ and it's easier to interact with some basic excuse for any eventual misunderstanding.
It is of importance, you are just paranoid about being judged for it.
As available resources are growing more scarce one tends to prefer one's own people to be in control of them. It's just biology.

and when the asian is chinese or southeast asian, white folks always look disappointed
>>
Same reason Koreans ask each other's age; to establish a social hierarchy.
>>
Because I am in my own fucking country and you are a foreigner
>>
Because they are interested and want to strike a conversation.
>>
>>219316624
I ask people if they have a foreign accent because they are clearly foreign
I would ask a euro that but not an asian with an australian accent
>>

We rarely ask about people's place of origin. Since ancient times, South Korea has been divided into small, independent countries, and as a result, regional resentment persists. Anger toward people from certain regions often leads to physical violence. And this is often due to differences in political stance. South Korea is a country where political stances and regional characteristics are clearly evident. In this country, asking about someone's age or school is more beneficial for avoiding conflict than asking about their place of origin.
>>
Vietnamese also ask this question often. It's to determine the character of strangers because certain regions of the country as well as rural people are problematic. If someone say they're from the North or from a rural area then one should be alert.

It's normal small talk and asked from everyone everywhere and only subhumans who know that they're from shitholes get uppity about it.

This is even more noticeable if they're actually born in the country but not native. A white person will say "oh I was born here but my parents came from Ireland" while some bootlip from the deepest darkest rapiest African shithole will immedialy go "REEEEE I'M JUST AS FINNISH AS YOU". No you're not you fucking nigger lmao, now where are you really from?

I've read quite a few blogs about East Asians traveling around Europe and the Americas, and it doesn't seem like you get any better treatment because you're from South Korea or Japan. Maybe it's slightly better than Chinese, Southeast Asians, or South Asians, but Westerners fundamentally don't seem to regard Asians as equals. You can see that Finland's right-wing politicians' mockery of Asians isn't just a coincidence. And people praise Finland as a model country, one of the most equal and least racist in Europe.

You're kidding right? They're just making conversation. Does sharing a basic fact about yourself make you offended?
>>
asians will live in ethnostates and call other asians "monkey" for living across the border, while pretending white people invented xenophobia
