Despite higher inflation, the eastern German states showed significantly better real wage growth than their western counterparts between 2020 and 2024. Thuringia led the way with an increase of 3.6 percentage points, followed by Berlin (+2.6) and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (+2.5). Brandenburg (+1.7), Saxony-Anhalt (+1.4), and Saxony (+1.3) also saw positive results.

Most western German states, however, recorded negative figures: Bremen brought up the rear with a decrease of 3.9 percentage points. Lower Saxony (-2.5), Baden-Württemberg (-2.4), North Rhine-Westphalia (-2.3), and Bavaria (-1.7) also experienced significant declines. The nationwide average was a decrease of 1.1 percentage points – meaning wages failed to keep pace with inflation.

you are literally a FINN lol

East Germany left you in the dust 10 years ago

Probably because the reunification was more of a West-German takeover that the east is yet to recover from.

The east is still poorer than West Germany tho
>In 2023, significant economic disparities persisted between East and West Germany, with the West's GDP per capita (approx. €50,800 including Berlin) remaining substantially higher than the East's (approx. €40,300 including Berlin). While eastern German states have narrowed the gap since reunification, they still lag behind, with average household wealth and wages being lower than in Western regions

Average household wealth is something that takes a lifetime or two to change. In Germany most household wealth is inherited.
If you look at household wealth by age of main earner in the household it's 95% the same for those born after reunification. The rest is explained by inheritance.

The main explanation for structural differences that won't be overcome this century is headquarters of big companies moving to the south when Russia started stealing everything.

Up until after (!) the end of WW2 eastern Germany had higher incomes and productivity.

It only changed with communism.

The correct move would have been to make eastern Germany a special economic zone with lower taxes to encourage companies to settle here but of course the spiteful w*ssis wouldn't do that.

Now it's your turn to explain why you are poorer than a country that suffered 40 years of communism and why your unemployment rate is the highest in the EU, why you copied our education system and why you've become a failed state after you changed it to gay shit.

Communism is dogshit but germans invented and spread it so they should've suffered more for it, they got off easy

E. Germany has received 10 times as many gibs as Poland, and still they have a lower GDP per capita than us
>>
>>219346800
Now all you need to do is have 50% of your GDP seized for 5 years in a row, followed by 40 years of communism, followed by deindustrialization because the transition back to a market economy is done with literally no safeguards.
Then you can make a fair comparison.
The same goes for western "germany" by the way.

GDP is 70-80% os western Germany but wages are 85-95% of western Germany because big companies have their headquarters elsewhere but wages are paid where the value is created.
