When the British first arrived to India, the locals only ate holy cow poop. While Brits eat food that is considered a war crime to serve outside the British isles, even they found that practice disgusting and tried to ban it. However, Indians would rather starve than eat things that do not contain feces, whence the famine. It was finally ended when the British invented what is now called Indian cuisine by mixing various decaying plant matter and carrion into a sludge that resembles diarrhea (called "curry") which the Indians found resembled their traditional diet closely enough to where they could eat it, though some believe that this may originally have been due to the Indians confusing the "curry" with their traditional food source.
