Do people have useful jobs in your country? I'm currently a working student at a large German company, and I still have no idea what my department of like 25 people even does. It's some hyper specific shit that's supposed to make quality control like 0.2% faster or something. Definitely nothing that has any meaningful impact on production or selling the product. Also they spend over half their time drinking coffee or in completely useless meetings. If that entire department was fired, basically nothing would change for the company. I'm glad I'll be out in a few months, working on useless shit is not fulfilling at all
yeah I write educational articles on scientific topics, pretty fulfilling except for the pay (I do it for free)
>>219510374no, it's completely meaninglessI think modern tech companies is more like trading pokemon cards (employees) to raise deck value (market evaluation)
>>219510374Judigng that by the book "bullshit jobs" half the jobs in western economies are useless
>>219510464Really? I thought it's because the economy was going so well for so long, they started hiring people and making new departments for random shit, and now it's biting them in the ass. And they can't fire anyone because of German working laws
>>219511903well, that too I believe :Dit's the same here
>>219510374>Do people have useful jobs in your country? What is it you're really asking because that's a stupid open-ended question
>>219511976It's kind of a blog post but with some genuine interest if people with completely useless jobs is a thing in all countries and not just Germany. It reminded me of Elon Musk, who fired 80% of Twitter's employees
>>219512210I believe generally it's best to keep a small high-impact group of people and keep the paperwork and such to a minimum. It's true in prototype shops and hands-on engineering shops anyway. The DooM team was like 5 people. Via negativa
>>219511903>they can't fire anyone because of German working lawsif you're stupid like me, you accept "chain fixed-term" employment, so they can say "no" every couple of months, until they have to un-fixed-term you or kick you out for good.so don't do that.besides, HR's whole existence is figuring out how to keep everyone firable.
>>219510374Work is for money not fulfillment. Such a German post kek
>>219513040It makes things simpler to say so. But accepting the fact you need to use most of the day doing something you find no meaning in at all is hard
