WTF even manga uses this meme.
Do Germans really look eachother in the eyes when they talk?
Why don't people do it like they do IN GERMANY

Yes?! Where do you look when utalk to someone?
>>
>>219799263
Isnt it normal to look eachother in the eyes when talking in every country?
>>

>>219800507
Some cultures only do it for emphasis. To signal intensity/seriousness.
>>
>>219800507
No some cultures see eye contact as overly aggressive.
>>
>>219800629
Weird
>>
>>219800613
>>219800629
Interesting. What cultures are like that?
>>
>>219801646
no idea. I'm autistic so my reason is different
>>
>>219801646
some backwards shithole so it doesnt matter
>>

Korean, some parts of China, Thailand, some African ones like Nigeria. If there's an authoritarian lean making eye contact is seen as being confrontational.
>>
>>219799263
Its because german culture gets glossed over yet they feel like its superior (its not) germans are still the same mindless drones from the nazi era
>>
>>219800096
In Japan, it's common to speak without making eye contact.
>>
>>219799263
It's not really about Germany it's about generic western attitude being perceived as more direct compared to the usual japanese one
>>
>>219802331
It's a about Germany
>>
>>219802331
They don't say that in germany
>>
>>219799263
This is more productive than normal comments about what happens in Germany. Typically they only tell you what they don't do, they rarely tell you what they do.
>>
>>219799429
Is this real ?

I stand at a 30 degree angle (ready to assume fighting stance at any instant) and stare at some point off to the side (keeping their body in peripheral vision to be aware of any sudden movement)
>>
>>219800096
Tits
>>
>>219807491
You should do it because you are
>>
>>219807667
this unironically, I look at people's chests male or female
either this or I focus my gaze a meter behind their head so I can fake eye contact because real eye contact is too uncomfortable for my autistic ass. I'm fine with momentary eye contact with random passerbys tho because I don't talk to them
>>
>autists from 4ch and a jap discussing whether it's ok to look people in their eyes when talking
>>
>>219801802
Nope. Bullshit in all three EXCEPT when you are being scolded by a teacher/boss etc. In Asian culture, you look down and pretend to be sorry when being scolded by a superior or senior. Otherwise it is immensely disrespectful to not look at someone when talking to them. In historical period dramas, sure. Peasants don't look at nobles faces when talking to them but that was 500 years ago.
