i still can’t understand why basically NOBODY lives here.
>inb4 “m-muh super cold winterz o algo!!!”
so fucking what? it’s literally prime, beautiful, virgin land with hot summers and temperate autumns/springs.

you can’t just hole up and stay inside during the winter? really?
>>
>>219802690
pipo do live there THOUGH

hardly anyone lives there aside from a couple thousand nomadic asianpipo

It would cost way more
Insects swarm the place, you would die of mosquitos

What's stopping you from doing that in Alaska? I'd say it's way easier in Alaska with more wealth and better infrastructure, so what's stopping you, it's the exact same.

American education..
They have numerous cities with 1 million+ population

nigga i lived in Alaska for 6 years, i know a thing or two about mosquitos and i really dont give a fuck about them. just buy a net and clear your grounds + don’t build too close to water
>You would also die of bear
same shit, id have a shotgun and would keep my distance. north america is home to tons of bears and it means dick to me. i saw a grizzly near skagway on a hike a few years ago and just turned around before it saw me.
>And of hunger
there are tons of musk ox, deer, sables, rabbits, thousands of fish species, etc. ripe for hunting

I want to visit siberia and the far east one day
>>
>>219802843
i did live in Alaska and it was great, the only thing i’d say is Alaska is WAY too expensive to justify living in. gas/oil was expensive, crime was WAY too high, and all the best areas are simply too close to population centers to justify it. building permits are atrocious to get out there too. also, i was not a fan of the constant rain in alaska, while some parts of siberia are quite dry (which i like). alaskan summers, springs, and autumns are also still very very cold, while places like Sakha or Krasnoyarsk are very warm and temperate
>>
>>219802996
well, siberia is just alaska but poorer, still, 36 million people call it home, it's not exactly empty
>>
>>219802958
yeah but the difference between Russian urban centers and American ones are that Russians don’t have sprawl/suburban spread. most people hardly leave the cities and therefore a lot of the non-urban forested land is uninhabited/sparsely populated.
>>
>>219802996
>>219803039
in fact: it's twice as densely populated than alaska is.

yeah but that’s largely just the urban centers + people living in the warmer southern portions of Siberia. the parts i’m interested in are the more central and northern portions of Krasnoyarsk and Sakha.

>there are tons of musk ox, deer, sables, rabbits, thousands of fish species, etc. ripe for hunting
How long do you think those species are gonna be "tons of" when people start moving in en masse? There's a reason those are virgin lands. They simply cannot sustain a big population
>>
>>219802690
Cold winters aren't the problem. There are tons of much more problems aside le cold winters. That's why Urals is much more populated for example, despite being as cold as some barely liveable parts of Siberia.
>>
>>219802755
>buying a couple acres of land for like $5,000 and just build a very
You cannot buy forest lands, you can only rent them. If you want to buy farm lands or living lands, you need to buy them in the settlements or near the settlements and they shouldn't be categorised as forest lands.

He was just a tourist and remained neutral, he literally says so in the first minutes.
Or read the book by black guy Robert Robinson, who literally says that it was much easier and better to live in the racist USA of the 1930s and 1940s than in the USSR lmao
I visited russia several times myself, and the police themselves constantly demanded 1500-2000 rubles from me for no apparent reason. I literally started getting sick when I was there from depression.
And that was in the major cities of the euro part of the country. Now imagine what's happening in the east, huh? Ruski janny instantly cleared my previous post lmao

winter lasts 2/3 of the year and the temperature in winter can easily go below -30 °C

you'd be barely surviving in a deadly environment most of the time

the best option is clearly to move to a place with a better climate, hence the small population
