They call it a "Dolla Slice" in New York and the five boroughs. The best thing too is that you don't even have to wait you just walk in and it's always hot and ready to go at the counter.

Thoughts?

Aren't all Pizza Huts like that? I've only been to the one at Stockholm Central Station. Probably more expensive though.

Pizza huts don't sell individual slices or at least they didn't the last time I went to one. They have small pizzas equivalent to a slice but you'll need to wait for it to cook so double no.

Think they sold slices, but might've been fake slices then.

Amerishart to clear things up here. They might call it different names in your countries, but here they are split between full size "Pizza Hut" and smaller "Pizza Hut Express".
The Express version is found in train stations, airports, malls, etc. where you can get slices that are kept under a heat lamp. Usually the full size normal Pizza Hut does not sell slices.

Late night pizza place in my college town was like that. It was an assembly line of hundreds of drunk ~20 year olds in one door and out the other side. It was the best pizza ever in a Friday or Saturday night, it was revolting when you were sober.

Tbh I wouldn't care if it wasn't that good. A slice that size for a dollar is a bargain.

Thank you for your wisdom, good sir. Then I'm not senile.

In America I make a large pizza by mixing:
>425g flour
>7g salt
>7g yeast
>and 105g of vital wheat gluten
>with 340g warm water
Then I let it rise for 2hrs. I oil a sheetpan with olive oil and then spread the dough on it and press down on it until it's halfway
Then I let it rise again for 15minutes while I make some toppings by cutting some onions, mushrooms, bell pepper, and cooking some chicken breast. Then I spread it out fully to cover the sheetpan and then apply tomato sauce, the chicken, 450g of mozzarella, then the toppings while the oven preheats to 230 degrees C, to which I then have the pizza bake for ~20min. The end result has a lot of protein and the slices freeze well and reheat well in the air-fryer.

The trivial cost of the equipment amortizes quickly to nothing. One comment on vital wheat gluten; it is only expensive if you buy it from specialty brands (like Bob's Red Mill) in the supermarket. Instead send away for it online from a bulk restaurant supplier. I can get a ~23kg bag of it for ~$90. Assuming you make the pizza once a week, this 23kg bag will last 4 years, properly stored. I personally keep mine in a box of paulownia wood set on wheels with a bunch of bay leaves to try and deter bugs.

The approximate macros are as follows
(Total)
>kcals -- 4,048
>protein -- 384g
>carbs -- 408g
>fat -- 104g
(Per serving [8])
>kcals -- 506
>protein -- 48g
>carbs -- 51g
>fat -- 13g

The reason pizza from, for example, costco and the OP pic tastes good is because of high fat content. Usually a large slice of pizza is about 700kcals, which means that the greasier your pizza, the more fun you have eating it, but it also is around 40% more calories due to the excessive amounts of fat. For an everyday lunch this is preferable. It is also faster, because you can reheat it from frozen in the air fryer and enjoy it within 5 minutes. You will never have to think about lunch ever again. If you have difficulty eating a lot of food I recommend sheetpan pizza.

>a slice of stale pizza with no toppings
You could get that for cheap anywhere but in most countries people are not willing to buy it.

There are actually places doing slices of pizza in my city which I've never seen elsewhere. One is a restaurant run by Italians and is really nice, the other is a hole in the wall type thing. What I don't understand is the Italian place has pizza with a thick base, not like normal pizza.

Forgot to add, these slices cost £8 now, they were cheaper when I last went a few years ago. Eating out is absurdly expensive here these days and not worth the cost.

the dollar slice is not really a thing anymore, or at least very hard to find. it's more like $1.50
