To be clear, Boomers and Gen X actively campaign to ban apartments from being built. The only cheap apartments are decades out of date, and very overpriced. The poor singles are forced to live in "boarding houses" which are just houses with locks on the bedroom doors, and even then they are rare and expensive just to rent a bedroom with meth heads.

I heard several times that it's almost impossible to build apartments in Australia, even in cities. That's why you see large suburban homes with lawns right next to the business skyscraper district. No other city in other nation is like that.
