Can anyone tell me about Barnes london?

How does a "village within a city" work? Why isn't it a more popular destination?

Probably costs an arm and a leg to live there

London was historically three smaller cities. The City of London, roughly within the old Roman walls, sits alongside the City of Westminster. On the south of the Thames is Southwark, which began life as the whorehouse of the city, and the place technically beyond the reach of the authorities but proximate enough to satisfy its penchant for degeneracy. Around and between were various villages, many of which are now well within the borders of 'Greater London'.

Its just another grim part of a grim city. London does have a strangely small town feel to it basically throughout.
