Why aren’t you learning the second or third most spoken language, the language of a neighboring country or an ancestral language, in your country
>>
>learning languages in 2k26
>when even 70-year-old taxi drivers in bumfuck nowhere in Central Asia can speak English
Lol
Lmao even

I kinda wish I know Arabic but I'm too lazy
I barely know English nigga
>>
I'm lazy

And don't really know where to start
>>
>>219852664
Why would I learn a language
>>
>>219852683
The purpose is to immerse yourself in another country/culture

And most ESLs speak broken English btw
>>
>>219852664
I dont want and i dont need to
>>
>>219852762
Take the critical period blackpill, Yank
You can't immerse yourself fully in another country/culture unless you spoke their language parallel to your native language since birth

Youve made this post before. Most of the people ITT thread are philistines. Me, I definitely have an admiration of foreign cultures and I have interest in foreign languages but the opportunity cost is too high, at this stage of my life at least. I never learned math properly. I dont have technical skills. I want to develop a career and wealth before revisiting languages maybe.
>>
Its just hard. If you study languages, you will have to give up either philosophy and history or technical skills. You cant have wealth, a career, a great deal of knowledge about philosophy and history and on top of that be fluent in several languages. Something has to give.
>>
i try
not my best but i do try
>>219852802
not really

>second or third most spoken language,
swedish/english I already know both
>the language of a neighboring country
already know swedish(and norwegian automatically)
knowing russian might be useful in the future once the current events are but a memory, but I don't want to engage with their culture.
I can read estonian, here there is room to learn but I am lazy.
>or an ancestral language,
Finnish is my ancestral language for at least 2000 years.

>>
>>219852664

>>
>>219853213
I know a little bit of Hebrew , like benzona, Kalev , Melekh , shalom
>>
>Hungarian
Only spoken by Hungarians so it's useless
>Albanian
Only spoken by Albanians so it's useless
>Bulgarian
Only spoken by Bulgarians so it's useless
>Romanian
Only spoken by Romanians so it's useless
>Macedonian
Only spoken by Macedonians so it's useless

By being a Serbtard I am automatically capable of communicating with Crorats, Montenegroes and Bosnians so there is nothing to learn there either. There's no reason for me to learn a neighbouring country's language. None of them are particularly rich or prosperous or culturally relevant in the world. If someone wants to learn a language it should be one that has a huge number of speakers and potentially gives you good job prospects along with being used by cultures you wouldn't mind living in
>>
>>219852664
English is all you need. When born into monolingualism, you only learn a language if you plan to move there or to satisfy your own curiosity. There is no other reason to learn any language.
>>
>>219852664
I come from 4 separate lines of monolingual anglos who colonized different parts of the worlds and never learned any fucking languages
im not going to corrupt my tongue by speaking a shit-fucking JF language
>>
>>219852664
>Why aren’t you learning the second or third most spoken language
I’ve never liked Spanish and I have no interest in French.
>or an ancestral language
I do this.
