Architecturally and urban-planning wise, is Britain the least attractive place in the world? They combine the worst aspects of North American and European cities.
I always kinda thought Britain was trying to look like American/Australian sprawl except they don't have the space so it just ended up cramped in a very European way.
>>220014934It’s the opposite. Britain industrialised and had a massive population boom first so had to build proto-suburbs but because this was like 1890 and on a tiny coal powered island we had to create all those rows and rows of Victorian and then Edwardian terraces.America and Australia experienced building boons later and with more space and better safety standards. They knew what not to do from us. And now it is the 21st century and builders here are trying to copy the American style detached suburban brick suburbs, except the houses are far smaller because land area
>>220014842No
New Worlders don't even know what an 'old town' is
>>220014842would look lush with a couple rows of trees, too bad we use that space for cars, should make the roads one-way and plant some trees but the boomers would revolt
Paving the road with stones instead of asphalt with improve pic 1000%
gets far grimmer than that
>>220015250>>220014842Tbh some parts of Melbourne actually look extremely British, e.g. Brunswick.
>>220014842Nothingburger. This beautiful park with relatively untouched nature is 10 minutes away on foot. Compare this idyllic meadow to the average Shartmartican manufactured park, which is basically just a poorly maintained field with maybe a few benches and a playground set.https://maps.app.goo.gl/r6s8yEX9sxW26gjC6Brits DO NOT SUFFER living on their perfect lush green garden island where it never goes above room temperature and snows are mildI wish I could move there so bad, the goal is for retirement in the UK or somewhere with a similar environment like Cascadia or Pennsylvania
>>220014842Like this guy said>>220020179Because the UK is small, you're also always close to pretty nice green areas no matter what.I visited my cousins in Glasgow, a city always mocked for being grim and dirty, yet they lived within walking distance of a gorgeous park and like a 40 minute drive from beautiful Scottish countryside
>>220014842it is indeed insanely uglyugly people can't create beautiful things, same thing in america and israel (all three countries are fundamentally the same thing)
>>220014842Even the shittest European country has better architecture than any New World shithole
>>220020262>city always mocked for being grim and dirtyBasically every "shitty" city in the UK mogs our nicest cities since you can go 10 minutes out of town and be surrounded by peaceful villages with cute old towns and then 10 minutes past that you are in Tolkien-eque lush gardenlike countryside. I really want to go on one of those long-distance hikes from London to the north or Wales, just eating a pub lunch each day and checking into a tavern for the night.
>>220020644>you can go 10 minutes out of town and be surrounded by peaceful villages with cute old townsWe have peaceful villages at home.
>>220020675This is fugly and surrounded by even fuglier suburbs for an hour outside of town before you are shuffled onto the highway lined by an endless stream of shartmarts and goyslop fast food restaurants
>>220020712You are fugly.
>>220020857I accept your concessionThe relevant parts of this country are hideous and to get somewhere with natural beauty you have to fly or drive like 6 hours one way since we demolished all the beautiful prairies and woodland within reach of the cities and villages that were once connected by small dirt roads and small-impact railroads to replace them with suburbia and farms to grow endless corn, soy, and soy- and corn-fed cows
