And now I realize that there is hope for American cities. I have no idea why Los Angeles is so bad, when clearly you can build a good Southern Californian city that has walkability, public transit, and drivability with good architecture and amenities. Apparently, it was the only major US city that was Republican run until recently, so maybe that has something to do with it, but it can't be the whole picture because most Republican cities suck, though I guess a Californian Republican is very different from a Southern or Flyover Republican. SD has a good university too, I'm thinking of doing my Masters there now.
