Is it just me, or have people gotten a lot more racist recently? Not just internet racism, but irl politics as well.Kind of gets me on edge to be honest (Asian in Australia). At least Asians aren't really targeted too much here, since people are too busy with Africans and Muslims.

im a self-hating nafri athiest who desperately wishes he was born white. part of it is just my aversion to the culture/religion that i was born into, but its also a result of me trying to distance myself from that stuff because im scared of being racially abused. i dont want to associate myself with features that i dont care about if the only thing that ill get out of having them is discrimination. changed my first name to a white one, buzzed my hair so the curls dont show, starting dressing formally etc, but im still constantly worrying about whether people perceive me as a muslim/arab or if im passing as white. it sucks man, i wish i had either been born english or that my parents had never come here so i wouldnt have had to worry about this bullshit, and i wouldnt have ended up becoming wildly racist/islamophobic because of my own paranoia

We used to be fine with them back when we had sensible immigration policies, but over the last few years we have taken in way too many people, the vast majority coming from India, and it has caused a lot of problems in our society. For example, an apartment that cost $700-900/month 5 years ago now cost 2k a month, which most normal working people cant afford. It's just a supply and demand thing, the government drastically increased the demand while the supply stayed the same. The anger is really about numbers, not race, but Canadians are understandably frustrated and a lot of that frustration is being taken out on Indians because they make up the vast majority of our new immigrants. Everytime we go outside and see packs of jeets roaming around we are reminded of why the country is so fucked up right now. I may not be able to take my concerns directly to the prime minister, but I can certainly yell at the jeet delivery drivers who are constantly blocking my parking spot at my apartment building.

Not the case anymore, recent migrations are putting huge pressure on an already lean job market. It has never taken a whole lot to get populists going anyway.
