putting everything on one plate is disgusting (you will eat the carrot with the fish gravy? mix gravy with whatever dressing you put on the carrots?)
also obviously the "finnish fish balls" sound bad and the gravy i doubt it's good but it's really putting it on one plate that does it for me
anyways anything industrial like this is always bound to be disgusting

There's probably separate salad plates, but they're so smol and so much work.

Thought the Finnish fish balls were Swedish potato patties at first. Those are delicious at least.

Yeah I do like potatoe patties. We have them also with many regional variations. The potatoes are grated and then mixed with flour cheese, onion, dill, leek, parsley, chervil or nutmeg
Then you dip in fresh cream with chives, very easy sauce to make and goes great with most potato dishes.

>"finnish fish balls" sound bad and the gravy i doubt it's good
You have some extreme prejudice there. You deem food to be automatically bad because it's from a country that's not yours, without ever tasting any of the food. You are like a child.
>>
>>220224664
Yeayh some stuff in nordic cuisine is good actually, my favorite is the gravlax and all the salmon-related things definitely.
>>
>>220224714
I've tasted some Finnish food, not all is bad no. But fish balls do sound bland. Also because it's a school canteen and everything there tastes like plastic, the gravy can only be bad. So you put bad sauce on generic industrial fishballs, how can it taste good ?
>>
>>220224243
tomatoes are overrated and they need to stop being everywhere
>>
>>220224781
>fish balls do sound bland
How? I really don't understand this kind of thinking at all. You sound like mentally ill making up opinions about things you have no experience over. Potato patties are ok and good and not bland but if you put the word 'fish' and 'ball' together that's automatically bland in your mind.
>>
>>220224866
You think I've never tasted fish balls ? I "have no experience over" with fucking fish balls ?
>>
I'll be honest I don’t have enough money to eat and for the past 3 days have had very little to eat and I want to smash that plate. Will some Finn please come and feed me
>>
>>220224901

>>
>>220224894
You said the food "sounds" bland. When you say that you're saying you have no actual experience of what it tastes like but have made up an opinion in your head.
>>
>>220224919
I am trying to satiate my hunger by looking at pics of food on the internet. I keep looking at food and remembering what it's like to eat. I know that doesn't make sense but maybe if you didn't eat you would understand.

There's a nice mustard sauce you can put on top of gravlax (hovmästarsås/gravlaxsås). Never seen that outside here. Maybe because it sounds yucky but is good.
>>
>>220224950
Fine, you win. I will try it
https://www.saimaalife.com/finnish-fish-pike-balls-recipe/
First recipe, seems easy
You know we have a very similar dish, the ingredients are basically the same (pike, egg, cream) but with a different preparation
https://www.saveur.com/pike-quenelles-sauce-nantua-recipe/
It is in fact a bit bland on it's own that's why you need a good sauce. And we had industrial ones in the canteen and it was in fact quite bad.

But I will try and cook it and we will see if it is not bland.
>>
>>220223940

Replying with rutabaga to a swede is pretty funny iykyk
>>
>>220224166
I think the main problem with a lot of these people is that there isn't a truckload of spices mixed in and everything isn't fried in fat to give it flavor. This I think stems from their poor agricultural practices that leaves their agricultural produce with no taste so they think carrot for example on its own is tasteless or that potatoes are tasteless and bland because theirs are. A lot of their stuff is bland and tasteless. I tried Egyptian strawberries once and they didn't even taste like strawberry. They were massive in size but the texture was sort of stringy and chewy and dry and they tasted like mildly sugary water. This would suggest that they've opted for size and fast growth in their selective breeding for maximizing yields and ended up with tasteless produce.

Saying this is a Finn when our vegetables are notoriously bland and tasteless is kind of funny. Finnish tomatoes and cucumbers taste like nothing but water, there's really nothing there. Growing them inside seems to not compensate for the lack of natural light and heat.

Looks good. My highschool had things like pizza, french fries, burgers, etc. It wasn't even good quality, this stuff had probably been prepared in some factory, then frozen, and reheated at the cafeteria. Extremely overpriced too. Most kids brought their own lunch, or if they wanted fast food they would leave school grounds for lunch and go to a proper fast food restaurant.
