On a certain site sharing a name with a bird from New Zealand, I visited the thread of videos showing people dying (both by accidents, on purpose, or homicide) and so many Thirdie countries had bystanders not doing jack shit

I'll sort some of the countries into categories

"Will do nothing" Tier:

>China
One video was of a girl collapsing due to a medical emergency, and one old man just stood there and stared, then went back into his house. Another old man walked by, looked at the girl, and kept walking.
>Vietnam
Pretty much the same story as China to be honest.

"Some people will intervene" Tier:

>India
Indians and trains, the same old story. With suicide or accident by locomotive videos, I saw at least some people, mostly men, rushing over and checking on the victim. However, in other videos, such as a knife attack on a woman, other women did call for help via phone, but didn't check on the (still alive) victim and just left her there to collapse eventually.

>Brazil
Don't get approached by a guy with a motorcyle helmet while relaxing in your Thirdie Throne, because you'll get hitman'd. Most people rush over to help in such a scenario, but one restaurant owner bystander literally cleaned up a table while a few meters away, a guest of his was wrestling for his life trying to seize the gun from a hitman. In other videos however, people tried to disarm the hitman or help the victim.
>>
"I will help you my fellow brother" Tier:

>Mexico
A guy got stabbed outside of a gym, fled back into the gym witht he attacker following swiftly, and inside the prepetrator was confronted and disarmed by an off-duty cop. W for Mexico.
>Turkey
Ex-husband trying to shoot his ex-wife who filed for a restraining order, entire office building goes haywire but some women try to get him off, unfortunately without success and the ex-wife succumbs to her injuries.

My follow-up question: Do some countries not teach a sense of civic duty and helping others (of course not in situations where you would endanger yourself)? Or at least call for help? The reaction of just standing there and observing or not doing anything is just so alien to me.
By the way, if you want you can see this post as a Whiteness map too, as I would associate coming to a stranger's aid to be more prevalent in White, Western countries.

It's called the bystander effect

Those videos are poison for your soul, even if some can be slightly instructive.

>Philipino yesterday talking about the kid starving to death in the street
>>220239837
>>220239846
I imagine in some countries people just learn that trying to be the hero, or ever doing any good, carries absolutely 0 reward and near 100% chance of actually being punished in some way, so the kindness gets beaten out of people.
>>
>>220239869
Forgot to rank America's death by cop videos, those were also part of it

"I will bootlick for my police state" Tier:
>United States
The worst of all, cops will stop people and even if they are unarmed and clearly mentally unwell trigger-happy policemen will fire a round just to prove a point about their 2nd amendment, I guess.
Also the only country where I would understand if bystanders did not intervene, because then they'd get shot too.
>>
>>220239938
I've heard of that before, and you see that in Western countries as well, but never to the point that everyone would just stand still and not rush over to help
This complete lack of care is something I've only seen with Thirdie countries. If I collapsed on the street here or got stabbed, there'd be at least 3 people reacting immediately. It's the complete opposite in places like China or Vietnam, and I want to know why exactly.

>>220239960

True, but it's way too late now

you can get in trouble with the law for interfering in china

The U.S is such a melting pot that I can't relate to probably at least 85% of people here. There's hardly a "fellow american" kinship, more like "I'm actually american and most are something else". This only applies to major cities tho
>>
>>220240061
In thirdieland life is cheap and you can get shot/stabbed and the cartel hitman bribes the cop
>>
>>220239837
I am more worried about you watching all those videos
>>
>>220239837
I spend a while exploring a site called something like deepgore and legitimately 80% of the content was from Latin America, most notably Brazil. The other 20% were freak accidents mostly from India and Russia. I didn't find a single video from Europe.
I can't imaging living in these regions. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Only European peoples have morals and virtues. That might sound like a racist exaggeration but it’s not. We are literally the only people in world-history with cultures that with moral virtue and feel compelled to act for good.

>The Chinese have always been among the most fatalistic of people. In the West, we often say that our fate is determined by the will of God, but at the same time we also claim that we are “captains of our own ship, masters of our own destiny.” Neither concept is reflected in the way that most Chinese view the world. Instead, the Chinese over time have expressed their sense that whatever man proposes, fate disposes. All is in the hands not of a loving God but of an indifferent fate or destiny. One of the most common expressions in contemporary Chinese when trying to find a solution to one of life’s problems is méiyǒu bànfǎ(没有办法; there’s nothing you can do about it).

It's the bystander effect, a psychological effect that was coined in America in the 1960s after an incident in New York where no one helped.

It has one of the most replicable effects in social psychology experiments as shown here through a social experiment on the streets of London.

No one in Brazil is murdered out of the blue for no reason.
The man who was killed had done something and was involved with a criminal faction.

Choosing the "good" choices have no good consequences in the third world. A reward system is nonexistent unlike the first world, where helping others mean you will be rewarded money or be popular. In most cases, helping someone here means a criminal case for intervening. In the third world, no good deed goes unpunished.

Dude get's stopped from some minor driving thing in the highway, the three coppers that stopped him get absolutely /rekt/ by some giant truck. Mr. Pussey gets out of his car and films the dead cops saying they fucking deserve it, and oh isn't it beautiful mate. Meanwhile bystanders are doing cpr and calling the ambulance while he fucking rambles on
He went to court and shit but don't remember the sentence. Fucking animal

1. Do nothing
Return home or to work normally and live your day. Zero consequences.

2. Do something
You are bound to pay medical costs upfront, face possible litigation, and get penalized or fired for tardiness. If the injury is severe and leaves them in a coma, you might be liable for their lifetime medical care.

Oh, and there's a 1% chance you get a 200 yuan government bonus and a merit badge for heroism.

Personally, if I were in this situation, I would do absolutely nothing.
