>>220253911I am the English teacher. I have an English (meme) degree. It doesn't pay. But then again nothing fun is worth anything. I often handwrite or print and bind my own materials. My hobby is printing and binding important books from the internet archive and project gutenberg and distributing them as gifts. When not making books or reading them I listen to audiobooks, which are often my own professional recordings. Tutoring my nephews is great fun. They're 2 and 4 now. I need to learn some computer code eventually though one of these days because kids use ipads and phones enough to warrant making an app for them. My dream is to overthrow loopy school cursive and popularize Chancery with a proper Edward Johnston style Chancery Hand. I have over 2,000 perfectly formatted ebooks that are out of copyright. My dream is to make beautiful handwriting popular. I just don't know how I should accomplish this yet. It's probably going to be a fucking mountain of work.

>>220253911I taught in Spain. the majority I encountered were in their mid 30s and older, all but conceding to living in Spain for the rest of their lives. none of them seemed to have any job prospects or skills outside of English teaching. they were all friendly and beloved by the kids. it only paid 1k euro a month but it was quite livable at the time.
