>Yeah let's just hand our autonomy over to West Germany, a country which we antagonized for half a century, what could go wrong lol?
What were they thinking? Was it a psyop?

I always wonder how history would have turned if this guy was in charge for at least 10 years instead of the other semi-bald guy.

He almost caused WW3 during the Able archer exercise.

I mean it was a big exercise and lack of communication tends to cause paranoia

I mean even in the timeline where the eastern bloc collapsed (which I don't think is a bad thing), why did they do it?
It' one of the worst things that could've happened.
West Germany tore so many perfectly good things down it's crazy.
The NPP had a bunch of VVER reactors that were pretty powerful and torn down because they were supposedly unsafe, nevermind the fact that RBMK reactors like in Chernobyl were not built outside the USSR and that Czechia has a bunch of VVER reactors to this day.
Or all the train tracks that were torn down.
Or in general all the industry.

The retarded destruction of infrastructure and industries is a common trope among post goymie countries.

Yeah but in the former GDR that process went all out.
For instance of all the countries that used the VVER reactor Germany is the only one that tore them down.

>VVER power stations have been installed in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, China, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, India, and Iran. Countries that are planning to introduce VVER reactors include Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. Germany shut down its VVER reactors in 1989-90,[5] and cancelled those under construction.
