Straight up, I would argue the US is the worst place to be autistic/awkward, on Earth. It isn't just the fact that extroversion/gregariousness is the most prized trait. We have a strong Anglo-derived sense of nuance that can detect the slightest amount of cringe/awkwardness and ruthlessly judge someone for it. It was paralyzing for me as a kid until I learned you simply had to fake a sort of shell personality and I think most people do that after the grinder of school society.

Even in other "outgoing/gregarious" societies (like Brazil which I see here), there is more tolerance for general goofiness, cringiness, awkwardness, less of a nuanced ruleset that is impossible for true autists to figure out.

It's all part of the concept of coolness that originated here, you can't just be outgoing, you have to be smooth with it, witty, self assured, and if you make one misstep the group laughs at you and it haunts you for the rest of the day. You've all seen it in American movies/shows.
