Another word like that is "palatable", but in terms of meaning. I always took it to mean "not great but edible/acceptable". Seems to ackshually mean "tasty". I have no stake and don't mind looking like a dum-dum, and I'm probably pretty Americanized, so I could give more accurate definitions.
