i live in the south and i've never actually seen one in person, except one time in high school where there was one on a window. i don't think i'll ever forget it. they are horrible creatures.
I was bitten a few times by these, they don't instantly die from getting swatted either so I put them in a jar then burn them in the firepit later.

yes, fuck horseflies to hell. they make mosquitos seem like nothingit itches so much and the swollen bump takes days to go away
Obad. When I was 10, one flew into the car while we were driving and I splattered it across the window because I knew instantly what it was since I read a lot of animal encyclopediae
from what i've researched, they exist, but luckily i've never seen one of those creatures, nor did i know they existed, and I've walked a lot through the woods and swum in many rivers around here.gnats are more common, though
