Do you support Self Checkout?
Do boomers hate it in your country?

Yes
Yes
>>
>>220312516
No
Yes
>>
>>220312516
I support them because I conveniently forget to pay for the most expensive item every time I use one and nobody ever calls me on it.
>>
>>220312516
Yes
Yes, I managed to convert my boomer mum to it though. She pooh-poohed it initially and now she uses it. Makes me laugh seeing a load of mongs queueing up to have their stuff scanned when you can be out instantly. I don't go to supermarkets anyway, I do click and collect, fuck walking around getting my weekly shop.
>>
Yes
Yes
But I'd much rather the boomers hate the self-checkouts rather than clog the flow by having an entire cart full of products that they have to scan by themselves. And God help you if they have vegetables/fruits they have to manually look up to weigh.
>>
>>220312516
yes, fuck wagies
idk fuck boomers
>>
i have severe panic disorder and going to the super market had been a source of constant stress. absolutely miserable, i'd go first thing in the morning when my anxiety was the lowest and then be fucked up for the rest of the day.
self checkout has given me a lot of quality of life back.
>>
>>220312855
germans really be making up new disorders to cope with basic social interaction lmao
>>
>>220312516
why do boomers hate them?
>>
>>220312516
I hate cashiers so this is based.
>>
Boomers are too retarded to figure out how to scan a bar code. Sometimes I wonder how they even survived
>>
>>220312928
Idk, they are just boomers.
>>220312583
Skin tone?
>>
>>220312583
Stealing is a nigger thing to do.

I don't like self checkouts because the stores are expecting me to do the cashier's job. They brought in these things to cut down on labor costs, but my grocery bill certainly isnt going down. Now I have to do unpaid work on top of that? Fuck that shit.
>>
>>220312516
yes
no, they use self checkout and do it really slow causing long lines
>>
>>220313335
But it's faster. Cashiers can't scan as fast as me

my home store has you take the scanner when entering so you can scan and pack things. when you reach the checkout you just pay
>>220313335
i'd rather do the free labour than wait 15 min in a line during rush
>>
>>220313854
>you take the scanner when entering so you can scan and pack things. when you reach the checkout you just pay
That's a smart idea
Our grocery stores have that but it's only from a mobile app which doesn't always work well
>>
>>220312516
I don't know how to use it and I don't want some girl show up and embarrass me by explaining how to use it.
>>
Boomers are repelled by them. So i can skip past the long ass line of the one cashier and use the self check out while the boomers wait
>>
>>220313497
It depends. I have two grocery stores close to me. If I just need to pick up one or two items I will go to the store with the self serve checkout. If I am getting a full cart of groceries, stuff that needs to be weighed, discounts that need to be entered into the pos system, etc I will go to the store that actually has cashiers working the till.
>>
>>220314127
you sound like a boomer. I bet you write grocery lists with paper and pen too. Or you defend learning cursive. Or make a big deal about how kids these days can't read analog clocks

Working in automation makes you hate thoose stuff though...

Self Checkout is a nice civilization filter test. So yes
Yes, all that lead they grew up with must've fried their brain cells to do the most menial 10 year old labour
>>
>>220312516
I like it because I can bag my shit in peace, but just as an option.
I've helped some fast learning boomers with it, and they were happy with the experience.
>>
>>220312516
yes
no, even boomers use them
they are increasingly popular

>get expensive organic fruit/vegetables
>ring it up as the non-organic to save money at the cash register
>>
>>220314127
I dont see the point of entering in deals/ coupons. Usually you get so little off that the time taken to collect coupons and enter it in outweighs any money you save
Time is money
>>
>>220313926
yeah, every store that has the one where you scan them and then but the thing on the weight can go fuck it self. and i've only stolen by accident with the scanner, because the thing would sometimes load longer while im tap firing a barcode
the apps can go fuck themselves too
>>
>>220313141
This. Slow ass faggots
>>
the only one i've seen doesn't accept cash and i don't have a credit card... otherwise i'd use it
never seen anyone else use it, young or old
>>
we will never have that level of trust in my third world country in an average wage of under 200 usd monthly, people still steal even when there's cashiers
>>
I feel like a criminal using one
stores are already shutting them down due to theft and going back to the old way
>>
self checkout is great if you aren't loading up on a week's worth of groceries
>>
>>220312516
What a horrible sight. I shop in expensive supermarkets (as long as they're not far away) and let them over charge me for the same stuff just so I don't have to see this
>>
>>220315871
devilish
>>
>>220312649
Do you ever look at the knickers she's scanning and ask her why she chose that particular style, and what she likes about it? But in a way you can claim it's just innocent chit chat (but you know what you're doing)
>>
>>220312855
Oh damn! Are you the guy that could buy what he needed from the local shop because there was a guy sitting on a chair outside one? Do you like UFC?
I haven't seen you in ages
>>
>>220312516
>Do you support Self Checkout?
Yes
>Do boomers hate it in your country?
Unfortunately no, they love them.
So now there's a line of boomers at both the normal checkout and the self-checkout being extremely slow..

So I just order groceries with delivery. €15 and I get a month worth of shit in one go.
>>
>>220313931
Yes you do
>>
>>220313335
holding a bar code in front of a bar code scanner isn't work you lazy moron
>>
>>220313335
Don't be like that man
>>
>>220313931
you don't know how to use a bar code scanner? what's your IQ if I may ask?
>>
>>220312516
Depends. There are some stores that require you to put in your phone number or email first. I just dumped all the stuff on the floor and walked out.
>>
>>220320111
No silly. They obviously don't know how to press no bags, and pay by card
>>
>>220312516
Yes i like them. I do not like the combination of no provided plastic bags + extremely sensitive "own bag" option that summons the janny if you want to use more than one single reusable bag. I only like them because i don't want to deal with the cashier. If it summons the cashier frequently because the store is hyper vigilant about theft it defeats the convenience for me.
>>
>>220312516
My closest corner store has sefl checkout open 24/7. I could waddle in any time I want and not talk to anyone.
>>
>>220319185
>drunk boomer before me having no idea what he's doing and I have to tell him what to press to proceed
>>
>>220320745
>I do not like the combination of no provided plastic bags + extremely sensitive "own bag" option that summons the janny if you want to use more than one single reusable bag.
lol thirdie tier. I get goodboy points in Lidl when I don't buy a bag and use my own.
>>
>>220312516

No
Welcome to a functioning country
>>
I avoid self-checkouts because I hate cashless businesses.
Not sure about boomers, they're always causing a delay by acting like it's their first time paying with card plus they hassle with memberships.

>>220312516
No because people can steal shit
>>
>>220312516
>Do you support Self Checkout?
I'd rather they just staff more cashiers like the good old days when it was cute younger girls with part time jobs and not just ugh...But anyways yes I do use the self checkout because it's just way faster when I do it.
>Do boomers hate it in your country?
Who cares.
>>
>>220312516
>Do you support Self Checkout?
Yes I use it. It's faster and I get to check that the prices are correct and nobody is breathing down my neck. Only issue is if I'm buying alcohol or -30/-60% stuff. Though tbqh I prefer scanning stuff at the store before the checkout, makes the checkout even easier.
>Do boomers hate it in your country?
Boomers and some socially awkward people, apparently. They're afraid something goes wrong and an employee has to talk to them or something like that I dunno. Better for me though, I get out quicker through the self-checkout
>>
>>220313335
They're already expecting you do to shop keepers job by having you fetch your own products smdh. They should pay me for that work !!
>>
>>220312516
>Do you support Self Checkout?
Not really but it is what it is. It fucks up a lot and you have to wait for the assistant to come help, and usually they just wave their ID card and you might get some shit for free since they're lazy and want the error gone fast instead of messing with the machine kek.
>Do boomers hate it in your country?
No idea, I've never asked a boomer about it.
>>
>>220312516
I've only used them once. A cashier is much faster than I am, plus I can pay cash at every normal cash register.

I see self checkouts being shut down and taken away. Why? Brown people steal too much.
>>
>>220325293
There's one shithole area I know that has hired a security guard that stands just beyond the self checkouts. It's just exchanging one form of labor for another at this rate.
>>
>>220325313
I've seen videos from America where they hired "theft prevention officers" that sit in an office all day long and watch customers at the self checkouts via cameras. Same thing. When they become suspicious, they've got to replay the video a few times to make sure someone is stealing and then call the police to deal with the shoplifters. I don't think this is saving the stores money.
>>
>>220325313
One employee per five or six (or more if double sided) self-checkouts is pretty efficient
>>
>>220313335
stop larping Sanjay
>>
>>220319835
>€15 and I get a month worth of shit in one go.
wtf? and with delivery fees too? this can't be real
>>
>>220312928
>hurr durr why should I do unpaid labor
>>
>>220325441
I don't think it's worthwhile, people can just fake scan and walk right out. They also have one or two other attendants for if the machines fuck up too, so it's 3 people standing around and letting stuff get taken.
>>
>>220325486
That's probably the delivery fee they're talking about
>>220325508
Here it seems to be. And it's just one person, not sure why you'd need more
>>
>>220325527
well in that case its a bit steep innit?
>>
>>220325532
If it's for genuinely a month worth of stuff then doesn't seem too bad. Factor into different trips into the store you'd normally do and the effort/time and I can see it being worthwhile for someone
>>
>>220325527
>And it's just one person, not sure why you'd need more
The self-checkouts are pretty big sometimes, most of the time there's at least a dozen of them and it can be almost double that in bigger stores. Inner city stores can be absolute chaos on a work night and some real scummy people can manage to get a whole shopping cart of stuff out unnoticed.

And how you might ask? Because so many normies set off the detectors by self serve either not scanning something correctly or they missed some item and set off the detectors, so they're pretty much turned off 99% of the time to stop constant alarms.
>>
>>220325576
Our machines seem to work a lot better. It's just a very occasional red light, attendant comes over, does some quick stuff and then goes back to the attent station.
>>
>>220325595
The main issue is the weight sensor for the bag, that thing is a sensitive bitch if there's any variation from the item weight listed in the system.
>>
>>220325609
We don't have weight sensors (or at least I haven't seen one since the early days)
>>
>>220312516
I like chatting with the cashiers, but the lines can be irritating so self-checkouts are more convenient during busy periods.
>>
>>220325609
The only time I've seen the weight sensor freak out about the bag is when someone accidentally pulled two bags instead of one, so the system flagged the weight as being off after only one was scanned and placed.
>>
>>220312516
what a stupid ass thread
>>
>>220312516
>Do you support Self Checkout?
Why should I do the company's job? let these faggots bag and count my money, I dont want to do it

>Do boomers hate it in your country?
they dont care because there's none of that in argentina
