>>220317558Waffen Schutzstaffel, otherwise known as the combat wing of the Schutzstaffel. They were essentially created as a paramilitary under the direct command of the Nazi party in case the Wehrmacht got ideas of starting a coup.They got all the best equipment, funding, priority for training, and treated better but were more focused on ideology than solid training. In combat they were much more reckless and fanatical, which often led to higher casualties and equipment losses for the same result (refusing to give ground when you should, charging straight into the enemy etc). The Wehrmacht didn't respect them because of this, but at the same time they were happy to see them because they were good to have in a fight. Quality and adherence to international law varied wildly from division to division. Nordland and Liebstandarte were pretty good, Dirlewanger was quite poor.
