It was positive.But now in this post-MAD world, where weaponry has accelerated and wars are now total wars involving everyone, this naturally positive mechanism has frozen to a halt. No one can invade anyone. Everyone just rots in place, hating their government, their system, demoralized to the core.Think about it right now, someone like Bukele has totally turned El Salvador around, but he's still surrounded by corrupt, poor, crime ridden shitholes full of people looking for a savior. In normal circumstances he could just invade and annex his neighbors and form a better superstate with better governance and an inspired population. But he can't, because it's "not allowed" by the nanny overlords of the planet.
