Many people here are still unironically under the spell that the United States today is the same United States that they saw in the music clips, videogames, shows and movies they consumed throughout the 2000's, but much to the chagrin of everyone here present, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Yellow buses that collect kids to take them to primary school, cool skyscrapers, a nurse and a high school teacher couple can afford buying a house, cutting edge technology in that one part of California, high trust society...

Do they still keep ketchup outside of the fridge?

it still is heaven on earth if you're intelligent, driven and responsible. Like look at this post on the front-page of reddit, $410k for 40 hours a week and 17 weeks holiday (those are 80 hour weeks so it's not 34 weeks holiday)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Salary/comments/1s5l0io/410000_salary_with_34_weeks_vacation_incredible/

In the UK where I"m from the only doctors earning that much are the absolute elite of the elite and they will be working 60 hours with minimal holiday. It's just so much easier to be a success in life there.

And before anyone says it, obviously it is not easy to become a doctor but it is far, far easier being an average doctor than a top 1% doctor which is what would be required in almost every other country.

>cool skyscrapers
Still exist
>a nurse and a high school teacher couple can afford buying a house
Doesn't exist anymore
>cutting edge technology in that one part of California
Still exists
>high trust society
Less common but still exists in some places, and frankly it was never universal

I'm really not. I'm not saying it is typical or easy, but if your goal in life is to have a really nice lifestyle, retire really early, drive lambos etc it is way way easier in the USA than in the UK where I was originally from, similar to how it's way easier to do this in the UK compared to China or India.
