Some Taoist sects are organized, complete with clergy & holy scriptures. But by and large Folk Taoism is more dominant in the Chink-Speaking world and acts more like a Folk Religion where you adhere to some superstitious beliefs and give offerings to gods & ancestors on your own.

I know this since some Flip-Zhangs are mainstream Taoists and they have temples & priests.
