Why do British people like eating dish soap?
I am from an immigrant household and didn't discover this until living with anglos at Uni.Initially I was quite disgusted but upon further inspection, they are right, the suds slide off the dishes, no need to rinse thoroughly

You rinse it after when the sink isn't full of water, otherwise there's no room to do it and the sink overflows your hot soapy water into the runoff
