Do people still wear traditional clothing in your country?
>>
>>220451831
cute
>>
>>220451831
For events where it is required (national holidays etc), yes. As everywhere in Europe.
>>
>>220452124
Same. Also required when attending formal events involving the royalty.
>>
>>220451831
"traditional clothing" is a modern illusion, and oftentimes a fabricated one
>>
>>220452284
Why are immigrants and leftists like this?
>>
>>220451831
unfortunately, no. most finns have zero idea what out pre-modern fashion even looked like.

>>220452284
this is true tho. to them it was just clothes, and what we think they wore is an ignorant flanderisation of what they actually wore. history is lost to time
>>
>>220451831
there's no traditional clothing
>>
>>220452296
you're hopelessly ignorant. the very concept of traditional clothing was a reaction to the rapid cultural homogeneisation of the west in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. these clothes became codified and very often they were brought back from an earlier period or simply made up. traditional clothes are a creation, both in concept and in design.
>>
>>220454158
>people who say "why are lefties like this" may indeed be ignorant
riveting news
>>
>>220454158
>tradition is created
shocking
>>
>>220452284
The kimono originated from the kosode, a garment worn by commoners during the Heian period (794–1185), and its basic design has remained largely unchanged from that of the modern kimono.
>>
>>220454677
In other words, they are forced memes.
>>
>>220452284
yeah i noticed this too
t brown
>>
>>220454158
>actually there's no such thing as tradition because it's all made up
your brain on modernism

It is not uncommon for women to have performed shrine maiden dances at their local shrine as representatives of the parishioners during their elementary school years.

No but we had dope hats imo. Sadly those hats are nowadays only made to order by a few hatters and cost several hundreds of euros.
>>220454158
This - at least for most. The current bavarian Lederhosen & Dirndl were the succesful attempt to create a symbol for the recently founded Kingdom of Bavaria in order to unify the different Franconians, Swabians and Bavarians into one state. Of note is that the forms of those clothing items itself are homogenisations of different clothings from vastly different regions - they are the lowest common denominator.

We force kids to dress up in trad clothing because government workers need to get a checkmark for "promoting local culture"
>>
>>220451831
I've never worn lederhosen and nobody does in their day to day life anymore, they're only seen as part of folk costumes at certain events or holidays

There used to be over 200 geisha in our city, but now there are only about 10 elderly geisha left. The tradition of geisha in our city will likely come to an end soon.

That seems very normal.

Na
Only performers in larp dances. And like "remember Karjala" grannies in their events.
Saamis and gypsies wear their shit sometimes I guess.

No. The whole notion of "traditional/that is what our ancestors always wore" clothing is more of a 19th century invention. There were of course people who wore the fashion (or at least elements) of the previous times but they were either rich excentrics or poorfags who were unable to go with the time.
Pic rel is a 1880s photography of a rich farmer from my region, which historically was quite poor. The hat was a century out of fashion and the ringed socks and short trousers can be traced to the 16th/17th century. Only really the coat was a contemporary item. On the other hand there were many late 19th century monarchs who sometimes dressed in 17th or 18th century costumes and ordered their staff to do so as well.
>>
>>220469089
Well in most cases an amalgamation of different clothes is created as a unitary costume. When people talk about traditional clothing it is mostly late 18th or 19th century fashon and not something from the early middle ages or the migration period despite the latte examples being older.
>Does that delegitimise them?
Nah it's just clothing. But I find the ways those items developed interesting and like to share this information.
>>
>>220451831
We dont have traditional clothing
