What can you look forward to in Bulgaria? Seems like such a sad country nowadays

Anyone who claims Bulgarian is any easy Slavic language is lying to youThey say this because it has no cases, but it has other shit that is just as bad, or actually worseYou see, every verb is conjugated for person, number, tense, voice, mood, aspect, evidentiality, and gender (male, female, or neuter)Bulgarian retains the aorist tense from proto-indo-european, which is also found very rarely in Georgian and Armenian, and also in Ancient Greek and SanskritThe aorist tense indicates and action that took place once at a specific time in the past but given it's unfamiliar to basically any other living language, it's difficult to get used toIt also has the future-in-the-past tense (and a perfect variation of it) for actions that occured in the past, but after the time at which some other event being discussed occured. Why would you need this?Even more painful, Bulgarian also has a grammatical feature called "evidentiality" that I mentioned earlier. This is where verbs are additionally changed according to how it is that you know the action in the sentence occuredThere are 4 categories of evidentials:The indicative (I know the action the verb describes took place because I saw it happen myself)The inferential (I didn't see it happen, but I saw other evidence that convinces me that it happened)The renarrative (somebody else told me it happened, and they witnessed it first hand)The dubiative (somebody else told me it happened, and that person heard it from someone else, and so on)So - in Bulgarian you cannot ever simply say "the man kicked the ball", or "the dog ate the bone".You MUST modify the verb every time you speak to explain your source of knowledgeThis makes writing fiction in Bulgarian weird... what form or the evidential should the narrator use???But yeah, all of these features combined, you have hundreds of potential forms for each verbMaybe not all of them are used, but still, possible to make. It is a nightmare

>>220460196>This makes writing fiction in Bulgarian weird... what form or the evidential should the narrator use???Fiction and the anything history related (text books/wikipedia pages about history) are generally in the indicative present even if the person didn't witness the event or it happened hundreds of years ago or more. This is done, not because it's simpler, but to avoid any judgment on the author's part since all the other evidential forms are subjective and/or emotionally charged.

>>220459851It used to be emigrating to the west. But most people don't like the west and are returning. If you believe ((statistics)).Basically, if bulgarians are returning back home, the west has fallen.
>>220459851It's OK nowadays. Don't know if it was ever poppin' here desu. Maybe 1000 years ago.
>>220460196>Bulgarian retains the aorist tense from proto-indo-european, >The aorist tense indicates and action that took place once at a specific time in the pastWeird pasta but sounds interesting anyway, we have something similar, but in Bulgarian it's more specific>In4 AI slopI need fast answersKupih kniga focus on the eventSǎm kupil kniga focus on the resultKupuvah knigi focus on the process/habitBut in Romanian:Am cumpărat o carte could mean either of the first twoAnd in English:“I bought a book” could be almost anything depending on context

>>220465458Kupih kniga means that you just bought a book in the past once (no relative time reference whatsoever, just the past).Kupih sam (AI flipped the word order for some reason) is basically present perfect in english. A pats event that still has an effect on the present. Also really weird that book in Romanian is carte instead of something like libre or livre.
With the adoption of the Euro theres foreign investment to look forward to, quality of life is already pretty alright for university graduates, certainly a step above where I'm from (Portugal). People don't believe me but its true, obviously when I say this I mean from a finincial POV, obviously Portugal wins out on weather and beaches but those don't matter when you make 1.5k€ max as a 90% percentile software developer and your rent or mortgage payment is 70-80% of that
>>220460196many other Slavic languages have the aorist, like Russian and Serbocroatian
