What would they be like if they existed today?
>>220476520lazy italians i imagineon the one hand we'd all get siestaon the other we'd all get put in prison for not using the hecking pasta water
>>220476520europe would be heaven under their leadership
How would they even exist like that today? The world doesn't really allow for Empires in the traditional sense anymore. Best they'd be able to do is something like America where they don't really occupy the land and just exploit everybody.
>>220476520It would fix the middle east
>>220476520despotic mafia regime
>>220476520The Romans (citizens of the city of Rome) literally never stopped existing, ya dumb cunt
>>220476794>The world doesn't really allow for Empires in the traditional sense anymoreChina and Russia exist and are both far bigger are more diverse than the Roman empire was
>>220477143>China and Russia existGood point. Close enough.>more diverse than the Roman Empire wasNot as sure about that part. The ethnicities in Africa and Western Asia alone would have been vast.
>>220476520Serbia still exists as a successor state to Rome.
>>220476708>not using the hecking pasta waterYou are not supposed to use the pasta water if you prepare a pasta asciutta recipe.
>>220476794Everyone there would consider themself Roman, which was pretty much the norm back then. It was one big "pan-culture". Kind of how Iran today is clearly centered around Persians but kurds and turks in Iran have no problem considering themself Iranese
I think it probably would have dissolved into a couple of smaller countries anyways. The times were different you couldn't just impose a single identity and single policy as easy as you can today, running an empire at such a large scale was pretty difficult at the time. Even if everyone abandoned their pre-Roman languages and religions, local cultures and political interests would have survived in some shape or form. Kind of like how Arab countries today are not one single nation. Eventually there would probably be an independent Italy, Spain, Greece, Egypt, Syria, France (in the form of Gaul) and probably even more provinces that became countries
