In Japan or China, you can go to your local convenience store at 3 am to get something to eat with no problem. In America, your local 7 Eleven is filled with druggies and schizos at 3 am.
In my town all shops are closed by 9pm.
In Germany we have 24 hour self-service mini supermarket capsules
where I live even the gas stations lock their doors at sunset and all the fast food joints are doordash only except from 10-2 now
