i used to eat dry ramen growing up, i'd break it into bite-sized pieces and sprinkle the MSG seasoning powder on it. then i'd eat it like chips. for $0.35/packet it was better than nothing and tasted nicer than toast. also provided a temporary energy boost. favorite was the chicken flavor

Frozen pizza I guess.
No idea how people can eat so much instant ramen.
If I ate enough ramen to be full I'd feel sick as if eating tons of chips and candy for a meal.
Compared to that even frozen pizza seems like a super nutritious meal.

I'm depressed and I eat mostly healthy salads and pasta

I still eat ramen to this day. Shit is tasty, especially after adding butter and sweet soy sauce. Indomie is by far the best for price and texture here imo, but OG Nissin is also baller.
Buldak is just bougie shit. It's spicy af and tastes good, but not at all worth the cost. People like the texture of the noodles, and while good, but there are other options, like MAMA, that offer similar texture in their noodles albeit thinner.

My parents would be busy, so they would rarely cook while I was growing up. They would just make easy shit like noodles or frozen pizza.
Basically quick to cook meals, or ready to eat stuff. Then they wondered why my palette was so basic by the time I became an adult.
Still, even after all of that, I still go back to that stuff because I'm a lazy bastard and that shit tastes magnificent.

the poor and wealthy kids alike did this at my school, in fact most of them bought it at the school for a dollar each so it was the kids who always had money for snacks who did it

It's not really about money. Boiling the instant ramen costs practically nothing. They eat it like that because they're lazy and they're poor because they're lazy.

When I was in school we used to buy ramen like that in packets, not boxes or cups, we would open it, pur in the spices and crush it and eat it like crunchy snack.
