I just worked grueling shifts on friday, saturday and sunday
I thought I was getting paid holiday rates on friday only but apparently saturday and sunday are public holidays as well? What the fuck?

Yeah. It’s Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday. That’s the three day holiday to commemorate Jesus’s crucifixion (Friday) and resurrection (Sunday). Then we get Easter Monday too but that’s just Australian government giving us an extra day because Sunday usually no one is at work anyway.

If you're in retail, service or a couple of other industries, the whole weekend basically counts as public holidays under your award most likely. The shop I work for only had a couple of people on this weekend and they made anything between double and double time and a half depending on their hours.
