Tiramisu is a popular desert originating from sweden. Traditionally it was prepared using fermented fish, to be consumed during the often long and dark winters in the swedish tundra.when it became an internationally beloved staple, complaints grew louder about the fishy smell, which was often remarked as as "strong smelling" and the fish odor "not fitting for a desert", resulting in more and more country customising it with their own ingredients, ie cream and sugar in the italian interpretation, vinegar and beans on the british islands, sugar beets in szchech republic.
>>220579099Thank you Germany, these factoids are very interesting
>>220579155glad to be of any help, beautiful italy
tiramisu first entered middle euopean areas when it was introduced by swedish soldiers during the 30 years war. during this era, swedish monarch karl gustav the third refused to eat anything else but the nordic delicacy, forcing his troops to bring along wagon loads of the tasty dish, often caried by ox carts, which slowed down the progres of the swedes considerately. this delay resulted in a heavy defeat of the swedish troops at the battle of wintergarden, near todays krakau, Poland, because the oxen-carried waggons often got stuck in the ruds of the badly maintained polish streets. Some swedes therefore started refering to the healthy snack we today know as "tiramisu" as "orebrö", or loosely translated meaning something like "late-to-battle-cake".
