As a foreigner you will genuinely never fit in or be allowed in certain places, you’ll always just be seen as “one of the good ones”. You’ll become an alcoholic because that’s literally all there is to do for fun and it’s a big part of how you socialize and is usually expected of you for work, it’s nothing but rampant consumerism you drink and eat and buy shit you don’t need then go back to work, drink eat go back to work, all you really have time for. Relationships are more like business transactions, dating for love is basically a myth, and you will have to jump through legal hoops for over a decade just for the privilege to live like this. Japan is an amazing place to visit, but there’s a reason Japanese people commit suicide so often.
