1.3 IMCThe 2024 census was finalized and released yesterday. The fertility rate dropped from 2.4 in 2012 to 1.3 in 2024, and probably even more in 2025 because the live births in that year were the lowest in recorded history. The literacy rate increased to 97.4% and the gender gap was closed for the first time. The government wants to add more extensive sex education to the curriculum so rural pipo use contraception more often. I feel like these two things are connected.
>thirdies too will die out go into an economic death spiral without even managing to become firstiesThis is a cruel world
>>220649822Earth in 2100 will be 95% African
>>220650036If only. Whatever mental illness that is plaguing firsties is spreading to Africa. Original projections showed that Africa's population would skyrocket, but true birth rates are average to low. The African Century is dead on arrival. Sad.
>>220649822It’s around 1.6-1.7. No one wants children anymore except mostly like evangelicals and both men and women work too much now to be good parents. There’s no good reason to have children anymore especially when they cost so much time and money.
>>220649822Is there a difference between Tamil & Sinhala fertility?
>>220650076I remember a Kenyan guy who used to work as a bodyguard where I used to work. He was pretty chill. That guy had the easiest job. Just walk around listening to music, and he would watch soccer with us.
>>220650076friendly reminder by 29 january 2026, there had been born more children in africa than there will be in europe the entire 2026.
>>220650076It's definitely falling in Africa, but more like a feather instead of a bowling ball. The biggest fertility story over the last decade has been in Latinx America. It's like fucking halved. They were good little Catholics in the mid 2010s. Now they're practically westoid. Africa is such a broken continent though. Their dictators ensure nothing is every built ever. There are few exceptions of course. Rwanda, Senegal, Botswana, Namibia all look bretty good.Corruption is ubiquitous though.
>>220650214there are more Nigerians alone born every year than Europeansand Europeans include "Europeans"
>>220649822why does sri lanka not have as any cool architecture as india?
>>220650125Sinhalese 1.2, Tamil 1.5, Muslim 2.0Of the total population: 74% Sinhalese (70% Buddhist, 4% Christian), 12.5% Tamil, 11% muslim.>>220650076The war torn parts will probably continue to have high birth rates because there's no stable government to implement those policies.>>220650078That's pretty good for a firstie country, all things considered.>no good reason to have children anymore especially when they cost so much time and moneySame here. Most people focus on their education and careers, then maybe have a kid down the line because of societal expectations.
>>220650830There are some cool stuff if you look. Anuradhapura is a has some ancient buildings from the Anuradhapura kingdom which was founded in the 3rd century BC and lasted for 1300 years. The jetavanaramaya stupa was the 3rd tallest structure when it was build, behind the two pyramids. Pollonnaruwa became the capital after the fall of Anuradhapura and has some ruins. The Sigiriya rock fortress is pretty interesting and there are many ancient temples and monasteries across the country. The Sri Lankan kings focused on building an extensive tank cascade system and reservoirs to irrigate the dry lands. We have one natural lake so they built over 30,000 tanks and reservoirs starting form the 4th century BC.
>>220651638*Anuradhapura has
>>220650036Give them smart phones and their birth rates will plummet, just like everywhere else.
>>220650076Buddy, you retarded chuds don’t understand the mere concept of a timeline. The effects you’re mentioning about Africa won’t fully hit till like 2050 or beyond. Meanwhile, currently, the effects on places like western countries and east asia are hitting NOW. Japan and China have already been declining in population in real time. The west is only avoiding it because of immigration which is a whole different mess already. Africa is just chilling and will still be Africa 40+ years later. Can you say the same for the other places?
>>220650231>Corruption is ubiquitous though.Well yeah. The global system is totally corrupt to it's no surprise that governments worldwide are also corrupt too.
>>220650076That's assuming all the material and psychological dilemmas that plague the developed world somehow neatly transfers to cultures allover in Asia and/or Africa. Like Korea bruteforced and speedrunned the post war to developed state timeline in like 40+ years but that came with a ton of social/strucutral costs .
