do central brazilians really?
>>
>>220650964
the point of soy is that it's one of the highest protein grains you can produce at a mass scale that you then use for animal feed
I still see tons of open grasslands with cows eating that instead of soymeal, but as a general rule soy = commercial cattle
>>
>>220650826

gaucho traditionally means "dangerous rural hobo" in rioplatense spanish.
>>
>>220655521
Gaucho has a deeper meaning, considering that people still identify themselves as such eventhough there are no more nomadic hobbos.
Also, the origin of the world is disputed, even spanish sources say it could be from the portuguese word "gaudério"

source?
gauchos were outlaws who are conquered the argentine interior, it does not mean cowboy and gauchos were not generic cowboys, they lived a life of nomadism and delinquency
obviously to a brapzilian that's all foreign because it never was a part of brazilian culture, hence why when they larp as gauchos in rio grande de sul they think they can just dress up as cowboys and ride a horse to be a gaucho
but it can't be helped, what would you expect from a country with no roots of it's own or history like Brazil
>>
>>220655926
Our gaúcho was basically just a cowboy on someone else’s land, just in RS. These days it’s just a demonym. Doesn’t matter if you’re German or whatever, it just means you’re from there. Hispanic/índio gaucho culture is a different thing entirely and we don’t really care about it. Arguing with anons who aren’t even from the south is a waste of time, sanchito.
>>
>>220655926
>that's all foreign because it never was a part of brazilian culture

... a written source, it originated in the so-called Banda Oriental, a territory corresponding to what are now Uruguay and Rio Grande do Sul, first appearing in writing in an official document of the Spanish administration in 1771, in a communication from the commander of Maldonado, Don Pablo Carbonell, to Viceroy Juan José Vértiz: "My Lord; having received news that some gauchos had been seen in the Sierra, I ordered the militia lieutenants Don Jph Picolomini and Don Clemente Puebla to proceed to said Sierra with a detachment of 34 men..." In 1780, in a document from Montevideo: ‘that the aforementioned Díaz shall not permit any smugglers, vagabonds or idlers—known here as Gauchos—to take shelter on said estate.’
>>
>>220656046
No.
To any true Gaucho, a ‘Gaucho’ is simply a person of mixed heritage from the Pampas.
It’s only outsiders who call people from the south ‘Gauchos’.

>>
>>220656048
>in Banda Oriental and written by Spanish
so as said earlier, it's a spanish american tradition
parts of southern brazil were spanish crown territory
>>220656046
if that's the case all Brazilians who call themselves Gaucho should change it to sambita caipirinhita favelita, because that's their real roots
no one in Australia, america or any other serious country calls themselves indigenous because indigenous people happened to live in a part of their country years ago, it just screams vira lata complex and wanting to deflect your true being

"Rocha and the entire area around Lagoa Mirim and Bagé (now in Brazil) is believed to be the region of origin of the gauchos. The gauchos (fugitives) from the Portugal–Spain border were not guanchos; they were gauchos, a term describing people of nomadic habits, gypsies, living in huts or tents, poor white people of Moorish mixed heritage, coming from Spain — fugitives who became Indians or Indians acculturated by the Missions who owned no land and sold their labour to cattle ranchers in the regions where the natural pastures of the Mirim Lagoon valley were found"

No, it originates from Rocha, Lagoa Mirim and Bagé.
It used to be the border between Portugal and Spain. The border.
More specifically, it is now the border between Brazil and Uruguay today.

"The demonym ‘gaúcho’ was applied to the inhabitants of the Province of São Pedro do Rio Grande do Sul during the Brazilian Empire, for political reasons, to identify them as belligerents until the end of the Farrapos War. It was subsequently adopted by the inhabitants themselves following the pacification of Caxias, when many gaucho soldiers were incorporated into the Army at the end of the conflict. Manuel Luís Osório, a gaucho who fought in the Paraguayan War, is the patron of the Brazilian Army’s Cavalry Corps, a time when cultural values took on a new patriotic significance, the Moorish horsemen distinguished themselves in the War with Paraguay."
>>
>>220656086
No, that’s wrong. I literally live with these people. I’ve seen someone with nothing but German ancestry take part in those traditions. You don’t know what you’re talking about, so stop pretending you do. Brazilian gaúchos weren’t wanderers, they worked with cattle. We never had anything like what Argentina had, where people just roamed the countryside.
>>220656144
Ok panchito, now go back to Argent*ina.
>>
>>220656219
>literally live with these people.
Where do you live? Because I’m literally from Rio Grande, and my family has been there for over 200 years.

I'm Australian, seeing you larp as everything under the sun rather than accept your roots is hilarious
accept your roots and go dance a samba in copacabana with your coconut
>>
>>220656287
I'm from SC and I know the region well. We’re just using the same word to mean different things. In Hispanic countries, gauchos were more like gypsies on horseback. In Brazil, “gaúchos” were tied to ranch work, basically cattle drivers in the south. That’s why here it’s treated more like an occupation similar to cowboy.
