Used to suck maybe like 30 years ago especially if you owned a business. Now it's like 15 minutes on Turbotax and you're done.

You get various taxes taken out of each paycheck.
Then at the end of the tax year you "do your taxes" to find out how much you overpaid the government and how much you get to take back.

People get the wrong idea and always "hope" they get a lot of money back from the government during taxes, but in reality, that was money the government borrowed from you without interest that YOU could have been investing and earning from.
