What is the oldest tombstone you have encountered iyc? As a kid I saw some graves in rural Illinois from the 1820s.
Old graves of kings and bishops in certain cathedrals.

>>220728407Were they well maintained? For me: ive been in 1700 year old burial caves with some cool inscriptions and symbols (place called Beit Shearim) very cool and mossy. The oldest non proper grave ive seen was about 5500 years old when i was working as an archeology digger when we found some old skeleton dood
>>220728407There's older in the American south. Savannah has older, so does new Orleans. Here there are monasteries with buried saints that are quite old. Not sure the oldest I never paid attention. Pre 1500s for sure.

Dunno about tombstones, but lots of cairns (bronze/iron age).
One dating back to the 1700s, was some German farmer
