>>220804249>>220804435>Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence by ship or boat-borne attackers upon another ship or a coastal area, typically with the goal of stealing cargo and valuable goods, or taking hostages.>Those who conduct acts of piracy are called pirates, and vessels used for piracy are called pirate ships. You 100% can, just target some coastal libraries
>>220804249Dostoevsky has been in the public commons since forever. Nips are dumb about stuff like this.
>>220804249I read Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment. Both are based on compelling scenarios, then descend into inane moralizing and reflection on a modernizing Russia. Not a fan.
>>220804435Translations are derivative works
>>220804249yeahhh and honestly he is the most thoughtful writer ever. no one could dig so deep through the human soul. the cultural and religious similarities were bonuses >inb4 some nobody incel writer is actually the most basedest
>>220804347Japanese people simply want you want you to steal their hard earned work. "Muh advertising", "muh spreading cultural awareness" aren't excuses. You pay for it. Seems like only the Japanese have morals.
the idiot is my favourite, though it didn't feel quite as impressive to me on re-reads it than the first time.
>>220804249I prefer tolstoy
>>220804249Dostoevsky has been dead since the 1800s. The only people they're going to be harming are the Japanese translators. Are Japanese people on Twitter mentally slow or what?
>>220805111>Are [...] people on Twitter mentally slow or what?yes
>>220805111How about you stop defending piracy? If you're too poor to afford a textbook, don't just print it out illegally. If you can't afford a textbook, then you can't afford an education, simple as that. You're literally doing something illegal and breaking the law.
>>220805220I dont care, the law is wrong
>>220804249Taka takas are so fucking annoying, what a sissy ass cucked race
>>220805220History was made by people breaking the law

>>220804435it was you lot who invented this whole copyright business
>>220805220>legalismwrong actions are not wrong because they are illegal, they are wrong because they are wrong. many wrong actions are legal, and some right actions may be illegal. the law is guided by morality, law is never a guide to morality
>>220804249Tried crime and punishment like 3 times but I keep losing track of what's going on cause the names of the characters are like raskolnikov and marmaladeinov
>>220804249Why are japs this autistic when it comes to piracy. Shit this old is public domain anyway.I had professors just give us, or tell us, how to get pdfs of certain textbooks for free.
>>220804435They don't know what creative commons and copyright expiry are.You can find the most of Dostoevsky main works on wikisource translated for free and legally.
I have read half of Crime and PunishmentAlso translations aren't necessarily in the public domain
>>220805220From one Canadian to another, stfu moralfag. Be grateful you live in a country where ISPs don't give a shit about torrenting.
>>220804249Were they expecting a cease&desist letter from Dostoevsky incorporated?
>>220804249Ive read a bunch of his short stories like White Nights, Notes from the Underground, and The Idiot. All pretty good. I kind of want to pick up Brother Karamazov after I read "The Grand Inquisitor" which a story within that book connected to the characters. Thus far ive read some of Chekov, Dosoyevsky and Tolstoy and the Russian literature scene has been kino the entire time.
First of all, the majority of us in Japan actually watch pirated content, whether it's JAV or manga. However, if you openly admit to it on social media, you’ll face serious backlash from the creators and the fans who actually pay for the content. No matter how popular a streamer is, if they’re caught using pirated material, they get heavily criticized.Creators here genuinely despise piracy, and the domestic crackdown has been ramped up significantly over the last few years. Given this environment, piracy is considered unacceptable regardless of whether it's happening inside or outside Japan. There’s no point in trying to justify it. That’s why the majority of people in Japan who use pirated sites do so in secret and never speak about it publicly.
>>220809250That's just not how east asians in general think. Their laws are not traditionally guided by morality so much as social hierarchy and establishing expectations for a functioning society. Religion and philosophies that are based in universal moral ideals have never been a big part of their governments and their morality is much more of a personal thing. You go to the shrine yourself or pray to your ancestors in private but that has nothing to do with the law. Their laws are designed to set social and economic expectations. That's why breaking the law is inherently wrong to them. Breaking any law is a fundamental breakdown of society in their eyes. That's why you see people having their whole lives ruined over skimming 10 cents off a coffee from a convenience store over there.
>>220809223nope , dont remember ever doing that the idea is retarded>>220809366its simple the whole point of paying money is patronage to the man who made the thing and/or payment for the physical manufacturing in case of a nice physical edition. if whoever made a given work is dead you cant get money to them to support that lifestyle and make more works.i do like the japanease custom of buying multiple copies of small less-popular works to support them but the notion that copying bytes from one computer to another is somehow bad is retarded and proves that person doesnt understand what the point of the internet is

>>220804249Translation of Russian posts on the pic firstly from left picture, then from right picture, from up to down:>Cлacтён 3826: Fuck. Japanese people live as if they were in stone ages. I don't know about you, but I would reconsider my attitude towards this country.>Киpa: I would be only glad if someone is going to read pirated Dostoevesky. Because it means that the culture of my people is interesting for another peson from a different side of the world. And that's cool.>@test1337sobaka: I'll tell you more: There the QR-codes in the subway of Saint-Petersburg. You can scan them and read classics of Russian literature for FREE! And it's all official. And yes, I would be glad if you pirated Russian books and honestly read them.>Aves: I'll tell you more, one of the most famous Russian writers was against copyrights. And the name of this big person, this titan of world's literature is - Leo Tolstoy.
>>220804249The Idiot > The Brothers Karamazov > Crime and Punishment > Notes From Underground > The Double...haven't read any others though
Exposure to Japs on the internet has unironically made me hate them Race of buckbroken slaves
>>220804249reminds me of how they tried making 9/11 jokes in response to the oppenheimer-barbie edits and when people didn't get angry they had the same "low morals gaijin" response
wtf is wrong with bug people
>>220804249I have only read The Idiot. I had a jolly grand time reading it, super pleasurable (I read very few fiction like I watch very few movies, but here was an enjoyable experience).I bought the book second-hand, a pretty old print, for 5€. I suppose the Japanese would only consider the new collector's edition for 79.99€ acceptable...
