Gf is pregnant. Be honest with me: should I teach the kid Mandarin? We are both white westerns btw
>>
>>220805958
No, teach it latin
>>
Teach it English and read to it early and often and it’ll have a better chance for success than 90% of Americans now.

>should I teach the kid Mandarin?
No, if you really want to help the kid out teach him Latin and Greek. If you do—he'll basically be one in ten-thousand of his generation who's properly educated. Whether it's biology or law he'll be able to deduce what terminology is or whatever phenomenon it happens to be referring literally at a glance.

How would you teach someone something you don't know yourself?
>>
No, teach it Ithkuil.
If it learns Ithkuil it's brain will be supercharged and you'll have a 400iq child.

lmao, americans
every single lawyer in europe learns latin for years

>>220805958
yea, its a rare skill outside asia, chinese companies are expanding and will continue to do so unless globalisation is reversed (unlikely)
>>
no teach it swahili
>>
>>220805958
No. Kids learn from what you do as parents, not what you teach. Unless you already speak mandarin, it's useless. Send them to a school with foreign language subjects when they are older if you are so inclined.
>>
>>220807941
This whole premise is dumb. Intelligent people don't think in their native language when thinking deeply. For communication we already have several international languages that when uses correctly leave zero ambiguity

Only your daughters
>>
>>220805958
You should fuck them over by teaching a language that's something especially useless like German or French

>Hey, Li, did you hear? This plucky kid named Brandon from Nebraska started a Shaxian Snacks on Hongyun Road in Jiangnan!
>Whoa, that's awesome, Chen! Maybe I should go get a job there!
>Ah, but in order to work there, all part-timers need to have occupational Spanish
>Whatever for?
>Brandon started the franchise with his childhood friend Pablo, whose parents were originally from Mexico and he never learned English. So he's only accepting students who are Spanish majors!
>He sounds like he has a talent for languages. Maybe I should get English tutoring from him.
>I tried the same thing, but he only knew enough Chinese to move here and sign the contracts. My homework had a quote from Milton on it, and he said "What? Who's Milton?"
>Whoa, the Anglosphere sure is something, isn't it
>>

teach them assembly to prepare them for their 4th industrial revolution overlords

>should I teach the kid Mandarin?
unitedstatians say that as if they PERSONALLY will do it when in reality they'll just pay someone else
also use french or spanish instead at least the kid will have rizz because of that
>>
>>220805958
how are you going to teach your kid a language that you dont speak
also forcing your kid to learn something will make them hate it and never use it even if they're good at it
>>
>>220805958
Nah, the chinx youth speaks English, teach your kid maths and science
