Were most 'Spaniards' in the Philippines actually Mexicans?

Yes, most of them were Mexican indentured servants taken over by the Spanish hence why any similarities or Spanish/loan words in the Philippines (tagalog) comes from Mexican Spanish and not Castilian
>>
>>220812077
No. They were Spaniards. They were locally known as Kastila (Castillan). Also "Vosotros" is everywhere from old Spanish documents and literature. I know it's in Noli Me Tangere, which is a book written by our national hero because we studied the actual original spanish text in College.

filipinos have almost no native or west european ancestry. don't let the resident filipino shills tell you otherwise
>>
all mexicans are actually spanish

>>
>>220812077
Spaniards and Mexicans rarely mixed with us, we're far closer to the Chinese than them. But Spanish culture stuck more with us compared to Chinese culture.
>>
During the Spanish Period, the Spanish population was formally divided into Insulares (born here) and Peninsulars (born in Europe). There were Mexican Born Spics here but it seems they were mostly soldiers who went back home instead of settled. Regardless for the first 200 years the European Spanish population was absolutely small, with the Spanish Captain General Manila heavily reliant on the Friars in ensuring that local native aristocrats were loyal to the Cross & the Crown (or at least remained Catholic & Paid Taxes) an governed their people on Spain's behalf.

From 1570s-1700s Spaniards in general did not like living/settling in the Philippines. It was Spain's most distant colony, where government was the weakest, and surrounded by hostile or potentially hostile neighbors like China, Japan, the Muslim Sultanates, and Dutch/Portuguese colonies. So the only Spaniards who dared live during this time were soldiers, sailors, and priests (i.e. fuckers forced to live here).

The vast majority of the Spaniards who settled here actually arrived by the last century of Spanish rule (1800s) and these were mostly European. By this point Spics lost most of the Lat-Am possessions (Mexico being an independent country) so they were just sending dudes into the remaining colonies like ours.

Patently false, you can read the Spanish Census themselves and see there were thousands of Spanish and Spanish-Filipino Mestizo Families, 1 Tribute = 1 Family, in several Philippine provinces!

Here's the 1200 Spanish-Filipino families for Albay.

Here's the 1000 Spanish-Filipino Mestizos for Cavite province too. You can see thousands of these Spanish-Filipino mestizo families scattered all over the Philippines!

The notion that the Spanish and Mexicans were non-existent in the Philippines is a malovent lie that was an extension of America's black legend against Spain.

What?
>>
>>220812077
Well, not really. Early on the country was technically ruled from Mexico by the Viceroy of New Spain but still a seperatw colony of Spain. Mexico did have some/a lot of influence on the Philippines, the words we use for mom and dad "nanay" and "tatay" are actually derived from Nahuatl. Ina and Ama are the O.G tagalog words specifically.

Thank you for proving my point.
>>220819516
I literally pointed out that there are very few Spaniards who settled here, sharter.
>>
>>220812077
Yes. The Philippines was also administered by New Spain (Mexico) instead of the Spanish for most of its "Spanish" history. It was only for a short time at the end that the Spanish adminstered it.

Also, the De Soto expedition (the first European expedition into the interior of the US South, places like Mississippi and Arkansas) was mostly made up of Aztecs or Mestizos that spoke Spanish rather than purely Spanish.

This seems to be a pattern for the Spanish. Compare them to other European empires. There was the English, who would just ethnically cleanse everybody they came into contact with. The French were like the exact opposite: throw a few colonists and priests into a completely hostile area, do very little to retailiate for being massacred on a weekly basis, shack up with the natives and then their genome disappears into the brown. I like the Spanish.

Also I'm not a Filipino I'm just here.
>>
>>220820376
Interestingly enough, I think a lot of Spaniards came here after or during the Spanish Civil War. At this time I think some of them ended up with the last name "Espanola" for some reason.
>>
>>220820376
5% of the total population is low? LOL! Even Spaniards outnumbered Indians, but you see Bombays everywhere in the slums. We just can't detect since they have been so assimilated to Filipino culture we think a Spanish Mestizo looking person looks pseudo Filipino but if you went to other nations like I did, like when I went to Korea and Japan you would find that there are some races in the Philippines completely absent in several other Asian nations.
>>
>>220820376
I cited literal Spanish Censuses in original Spanish proving how there were tens of thousands of Spanish and Spanish-Filipino Mestizo families or tributes in the Philippines, then, yours' on the other hand is mere 'trust me bro' N shiiet.

I was about to ask you about why all the gene studies done on the Philippines show very little Spanish and a ton of Chinese, but he posted something first:
>>220820751

You have to keep in mind that the majority of Spanish names people have were assigned by the Spanish to rule them more efficiently. Often entire barrios (barangay) got the same name.

Our Great Grandmother was a Tlaxcalan Princess N Shiet. LOL!

But seriously Mexicans are not weaklings, the Spanish may have bullied you in the past; but majority of the soldiers sent here were Mexicans and they have to fight against more adverse odds compared to the Spaniards in Spain which had allies like Portugal and France against the Morocans, whereas Catholic Philippines was the singular Catholic majority country in Asia being beseiged by Buddhist China and Muslim Indonesia yet our only help, the Mexicans, proved that the Mexicans accomplished more in the Philippines than what the Spanish accomplished in far easier Spain.

>>
>>220820807
The average Spanish ancestry in the Philippines' population is 5% the Mexican is 2% that's roughly 7% Latinx ancestry, almost 10%, that's hardly an insignificant number.
>>
>>220820882
I actually don't care about the Spanish ancestry, Europeans colonized all of Asia; it's common AF. I'm actually fixated in the Mexican and American ancestries we have that no one else in Asia has. Heck Hong Kong has British and Macau has Portuguese so Euro descent is not special.

outdated. this is from 2021:
> Lastly, only a few lowlanders, accounting for <1% of all individuals, presented a low level of West Eurasian admixture, indicating a limited genetic legacy of Spanish colonization in the Philippines. Altogether, our findings reveal a multilayered history of the Philippines, which served as a crucial gateway for the movement of people that ultimately changed the genetic landscape of the Asia-Pacific region.

And he was part of the top 1%. Sadly he was autistic though.
>>
>>220822442

You are misinterpreting the data, <1% of the individuals counted, meant those that where sampled, focused on ethnic minorities who form 30% of the Philippine population. Whereas the "Urbanized Lowlanders" that allegedly had the <1% Spanish percentage that were 10% of the study actually forms 70% of the Philippines' population...
>>
We Americans colonized the Philippines, mostly by a Feel-A-Penis.

Every American should be given the royal privilege to swallow a sausage fest of Filipino cocks. Truly, to make the Philippines the Feel-A-Penis.

so are flips hispanic or not? do they speak spanish or have any europoor ancestry?

if you consider peninsulares and insulares as mexican probably.
the reality is, to travel to the philppines as a spaniard you have to land in mexico, so almost every spaniards that landed on the philippines came from mexico because they can't cross over in cape of good hope for reasons.

that is correct and because of that the practice isn't going to die anytime soon.
during adolescenes you would get bullied for being "supot"(also local word for plastic bag)
in filipino society, if you are uncircumsized you are viewed nothing more than a child and if you're an adult uncircumcized you are a man-child (we call them bonjing) and would probably be laugh at by almost everyone that would hear it.

Novohispanian criollos werent spanish, they considered themselves a distict different nationality. They would latter become mexicans & dissapear through race-mixing with indios, mestizos & blacks.

Back to the topic, yes most people going to Asia were novohispanians, children of the conquistadors who wanted to create in Asia the "third world", ie their feudal-style kingdoms which was denied to them by the peninsular Crown & authorities who "betrayed them"
