Our union took a massive L when combatting the brussels on them. The whole union has a free competition clause. You can’t try to lock out labor sectors from other member states. Our bargaining power as workers took a massive hit from this obviously. I’m personally for the practice on ideological terms. I believe in the union project and a more intergrated Europe etc. But yes, there has been huge downsides temporarely for large swaths of labor sectors. At least it’s working and their bosses are no longer able to hire them out for a fraction of what we cost.
