>>220828828An austrian Pandur from the game Empire: Total War. In game they are an early light infantry unit. In reality they were light infantry recruited from the military frontier Austria had with the Ottoman Empire. So Croats, Slovaks, Hungarians, etc. They were quite good and inspired Prussia to invest more into their light infantry.
Related to my previous post: after the War of the Austrian Succession Friedrich II. the Great of Prussia instated the so called Free-Battalion. Free in the sense that the members of those units were "free" to operate independently from the strict linear tactics. Those formations also did not just contain infantry but also light cavalry, dedicated riflemen and sometimes even artillery. The in the USA famous Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben was also an officer in such a Free-Battalion, which successfully operated behind the austrian lines in Franconia and with only 1800 men (including cavalry and artillery) bound many ressources.
>>220827767fucking Hugo Boss was a nazi ofc he had some hand in making their uniforms look awesome. i also love the stahlhelm
>>220831300A common misconception. Boss merely produced the uniforms. The designers for the SS uniforms were Walter Heck and Karl Diebitsch.
