It's a nice place. It's not particularly wealthy, but there isn't much crime. Also, it gets quite hot here.
>>

A shitty place—the kind you see everywhere across Mexico.

It's a relentless environment of squalor, bleakness and despair and, yet, there is something oddly inviting about this urban labyrinth, this desolate cobblestone maze. It always feels like coming home.
>>
It’s not really a city, more of a village. But there is a college town nearby which is more of a city. It’s comfy but it gets boring.

It's ok. Within walking distance to my house, there are shops, Family Mart, restaurants, a shopping mall, a lake gardens, a public swimming pool, a football stadium, public playing fields, public playgrounds, primary and secondary school, clinics, a train line and highways.

I'm so despondent about everything. Everything I try goes totally wrong. There's no escape from this hole here. I feel drained. So far, I still haven't found a real purpose in life. Sometimes, I'm afraid to get out of bed in the morning. There's nothing to get up for

I guess? Never really lived elsewhere. Whenever I visit smaller cities I feel this weird sense of relief, so I should probably try that at some point

new england ghettos are weird
it's still weird to me how so many ghettos in new england are randomly full of cape verdean immigrants from the early 20th century
>>
>>220860910
Cape Verdeans are actually pretty chill, some have been here over 100 years because they were just lumped in with the Portuguese immigration between the 20s and the 50s as part of the Portuguese Empire. It's the Dominicans you have to watch out for

I found out a while ago that the UK doesn't have many skyscrapers at all and we have a lot more. Strange considering our lower population differences.
>>
It's mostly a high school football town. Those that don't make the cut turn out to be spree shooters.

Meh it's ok. Has the usual problems with immigrants in some areas but rent is cheap ($490/month for my 44m2 apartment) and there's great fishing nearby in lake Roxen.
>>
>>220860971
Yeah the hoods here are mostly fresh-off-the-boat Hispanics. I think most of the RI black people have enough economic mobility that they've moved out of the hood and dispersed
>>
>>220860856
Is that a giant mosque on the left?
>>
>>220861007
Yes I remember seeing way more black people when I was in Providence than I initially thought there were. But they didn’t look particularly destitute.

australian cities are unironically much more developed and well planned than british cities. it's partly because UK planning permission and admin costs are a bitch, but that doesn't mean we build tasteful traditional buildings, we build ugly >6 story shitboxes everywhere

perth is mocked by other aussies, i've been there and it's better than any city we have bar london (and even then it depends by what metric)
>>
>>220860996
Yeah lol, I actually read one of Lovecraft's novellas in the park I posted. Really underrated one about RI history and has as an evil Portugee in it

>perth is mocked by other aussies, i've been there and it's better than any city we have
I actually don't know why, I've never visited but I hear it's a bit like some boring American city or something like that.

Places like Melbourne are where you get the combination of really old British and Euro architecture and then really modern projects alongside it. There's also been a push in the last 30 years to get rid of 60s and 70s buildings that were deemed ugly by the public, the best example being the Princes Gate Towers that were brown blocks made in the late 60s and then pulled down in the early 90s.

It's ugly as sin, it got the worst traffic in Brazil, and it's pretty dangerous.

But hey, it's home.
I do want to live like 3 years away from here just feel saudade and come back to Recife tho

Europe is much more car-centric than burgers imagine; if you live out of major cities, like the majority of the population do, you need a car
