I am unprepared for modern life, why can't I cultivate my own little vegetable garden and raise chickens in the countryside like my great-grandfather
let's be real, you wouldn't be able to go 2 more weeks without the internet
>>220866205those are not mutually exclusive though
modern life is a precursor to death; empty and cold
>>220866153>cultivate my own little vegetable garden and raise chickens not enough to survive off of. your great grandfather was working 14 hour days at the local landlord's farm as a tenant farmer in return for a meager paycheck
>>220866498Not really I think they were self-sufficient, he even cultivated his own wheat fields
Nothing is stopping you from doing that
>>220867469I have family in the city, otherwise I would do it
>>220866153If you're unprepared for modern life, you are unprepared to be a farmer and won't produce enough food.
>>220867469In Spain if you have a single egg-laying chicken you have an entire bureaucratic process to perform and extra taxes to pay. Policy recently implemented via the socialist party btw, the party of "the people". The modern state is so overreaching it's suffocating.
>>220866498Farming doesn't require so much work except when it's time to harvest which is a couple of days work.
>>220867615Yeah but you also have shit productivity and before the green/industrial revolution you would starve after a couple bad harvests
>>220867585how do they enforce this? Routine visists? Or do people snitch on each other?
>>220867634Mainly the latter.
>>220866153you can do that if you inherited money
>>220866153I lived 40 days in from the end of January in mid winter in my cabin. Had no car, so had to walk 5km to town to get groceries, that's about one and half hour. Then i had to get water, couldn't get it to work at first. Had to shit outside and burn the toiletpaper, it was retarded. Forget about showering. Without the groceries i would have starved. It is very easy to think yeah let's just get 20l water and some cans of tuna, you would survive a week with that. It became very cold despite being a log cabin. Imagine thinking he could just get a few chickens and a vegetable garden without having prepared and stocked up hard for the winter. You would need water, a cellar full of potatoes, able to fish (most of the seas and rivers freeze), hunt.
>>220867634Of course you could go unnoticed for years, but if they ever catch you we are talking about a fine of thousands of euros. It's not like chickens don't make noise either, just a normal police patrol going by might take notice of their clucking and ask for the appropriate papers, if you don't have them you are fucked. In the end, people just give up on their dreams of a more independent and self-reliant life, it's just not worth the hassle.
>>220867585what about rabbits? better than chickens for meat production anyway. you dont want to deal with all those feathers
>>220867772Not sure but I presume it's even more regulated if the intent is to sacrifice them.
>>220866153because people in power violently force you to use their currency with taxes
>>220867709skill issue
>>220867797thats fucking gay. you need freedom. i've heard your country has a lot of olive oil.
>>220867615>farming doesnt require so much worklmao this nigga clearly never farmed before
>>220867847he is right though
>>220867657>>220867750that's really gay and retarded
>>220867881Stop being retarded. All i am saying is that you would need a whole lot of effort, money and even farmhands to be able to make it through the winter unless you spawn in a very nice area with an abundance of resources. It's a better chance of living in third world countries where you at least could fish and steal than in winter norway
>>220867947lol farmhands? its called having kids dude and its free
>>220867750>>220867585unironically a good thing. some barbarians here raise chickens inside of his apartment in the middle of a crowded neighborhood and it would not shut the fuck up at 4am and i wish there were laws against raising chickens in metropolitan areas
There is one guy i know who made it being not found by the government and survive. And we are talking mid in the mountains with 100 population town, then drive up a mountain road for one hour. No electricity, no phone reception. This guy lived there because he had a huge debt and lived in a shed that was 3x3 meters large. A bed, a fireplace, bookshelf. I had his fishing gear and a horse. and a rifle. I was just eating salmon and game meat, and got the neighbors (which lived 30min ride away) to buy him essentials.
>>220867947you only need to plant about 30 square ft of potatoes to survive the winter even you could do that in norway
>>220868034maybe to really add security you could grow 100 square feet of potatoes but even that is like not an entire yard or back garden
>>220868082Winter here goes for at least four months, so 10kg potatoes wouldn't cover it. What about protein? Are you going to keep livestock inside your house like a 1400s dude with a fireplace inside?
>>220867968It's cheaper to get four dudes from Lithuania to work for you. They live in just a barrack in bunk beds. Like getting four mexicans in USA
>>220868122No, my house isn't set up for that. if i didnt have electricity it would be a mix of smoked meat, canned meat in jars, and cured sausage. i have electricity though so i would probably just process it and freeze it. its cheap to heat the home with natural gas here
>>220866205Yes you can. I lived 9 months alone without internet at home. I would only use it in the café, or library. After two weeks you won't miss it
>>220868253I just live with this prepper mentality since i saw this community which was self-helped. 50 people. They had fields of veggies and had also chickens, lots of fishing potential, boats etc. Almost everyone had a water tower and solar too. The climate was very mild with no winters.
>>220868362yeah something like that would be nice i think communities like that could be very durable since they're much less affected by what goes on in the world. i doubt they're worried about anything
>>220868122also where i live im pretty sure growing 100 square feet of potatoes would get you like 50-60 kg of potatoes at least lol
I have a little vegetable gardenI don't have chickensThe only things worth growing are chillies, herbs and beans imoThere's rat lung worm here so you've got to be careful
>>220867847I grew up on a farm. Even if you never experienced any kind of farm work, any retard should know that while the plants are growing you don't need to work 14 hours per day to keep them growing. The only work for most farming is in the spring when you prepare your fields and sow and then when the crop is ready you harvest. During the growing period you wait and during the winter you wait. Those long days of working are only for a couple of times per year.
>>220868494tomatoes are worth growing. homegrown tomatoes are so much better than the ones in the store its crazy. theres nothing like a juicy ripe red tomato from the garden and some salt and pepper
>>220867974SOVL
>>220868603The problem with store tomatoes is that the logistics takes too long for them to sell perfectly ripe tomatoes. If the tomatoes would be picked at perfect ripeness then they would be starting to rot when they reach the stores so they pick the tomatoes early so they ripen while they're on the way to the store but it has the side effect of them being less tasty because the tomato is no longer connected to the plant to get more nutrients and carbon dioxide while it ripens. Store tomatoes with the green stubs still attached to them will be slightly better than the ones without them but still not nearly as good as homegrown tomatoes.
>>220869066sometimes you can get tomatoes on the vine at the store, and thats the best case scenario. you're right though. thats why i need to get into canning so i can enjoy the taste of fresh tomatoes whenever with like tomato sauce or salsa
>>220869149Salsa means sauce
>>220866498You need 2 15m^2 greenhouses and a pig to feed one guy, completely manageable its how families aroud my area survived upuntill recently.
The problem is that incels wanna live remote. You can easily find a society where they get backup, but their societies are not in the grid. OP are like, "how tf do i live in remote alaska with no fridge." Gives nothing. Tough guys, try to just live one week at your "safe house" and see how much you need to do.
>>220866153Same desu
>>220866153>why can't I cultivate my own little vegetable garden and raise chickens in the countryside like my great-grandfatherBecause farmland belongs to corporations and that lifestyle is for people of the past. Look at us in the wowsocool future. Now put the fries in the bag lil bro.
>>220866205I only use internet for porn and this place nowadays. I'd go insane without it.
