Did any New World country ever change its language to that of a minority-majority population distinct from the 'foundational' one?
My understanding is that most immigrants from Italy didn't actually speak italian but their unique regional languages, therefore spanish must have been a useful lingua franca for them to communicate with each other and the non italian locals, I think.
The shitalians that came here were so dumb they didn't even know how to speak shitalian
