We could improve society by a good amount if we taxed inheritance at 100%, or at least at such a level that no one can inherit enough money to not have to work for a living. If every politician and every CEO knows what its like to be a normal working person, and is aware that their own children will be regular common people one day, they will be directly incentivized to make decisions and policies that benefit common working class people, instead of how it currently is where the ruling class of politicians and billionaires only look out for themselves, at the expense of everyone else. This would also have the benefit that any ruling class that might develop would have a much weaker identity, as no one could be in the bubble for their entire life, and thus they'd have a much lower degree of separation than the one we currently have and historically had, where the elites see commoners as subhumans to be exploited, and not as fellow people who's well being they care about. Also it'd allow for fairer competition in capitalism. If everyone starts out at 0, being born to rich parents wont automatically mean you'll be rich too; they can give you a good start but ultimately everyone will have to individually prove their worth, and no one can just rely on daddy's money
