Dropped the ball after the first 15 episodes. I liked hunting the spooky hollows that would do things like impersonate Ichigo's mother. They also used that hazy filter constantly, made everything feel dreamy the aesthetic was completely different prior to soul society. It was like he was hunting down urban legends and ghost stories.

I stopped watching right as the reindeer appeared. Even 17 year old me could just see it basically had an open narrative similar to a soap opera, and I had seen all I needed to see to get the point.

I get really burnt out on Shonen anime really fast, despite soyfacing hard over the first few sagas. Like I was excited as fuck with the Don Krieg and Shark guy saga, but my interest dissipated after that. Same with Bleach, loved the start, loved the arrival at the Soul Society, got bored with the Vampires.

My Hero Academia had a bit of that with Deku sobbing all the time and that blonde firebomb kid being obvious Fujoshit bait in how he interacts with the MC. My Hero Academia was quite competent though, I'll give it that. It's like Marvel and not just with the super hero similarity, but with how it plays it very safe and is very by the numbers. I got bored at some point of it but I stuck with it surprisingly long.

Yeah I found that after I dropped it through a friend. But these shows are by definition escapist fantasies for boys and the arcs are cookie cutter, the fact they're even able to shove filler in like that shows that the shows themselves are filler to some extent. As soon as you hit a speedbump through getting annoyed with something and you look at it on a meta level, the magic is gone. At least for me, I have friends that are able to consoom 800+ chapters of whatever and then re-read it again and again.

It's more like it's become extremely formulaic. Every arc has the same structure and thus things become not only predictable but any stakes have been non-existent for the main characters (and most side characters for that matter who rarely die for real) after 2010.
